    That really is amazing.

I've found it difficult to get excited about electric cars until very recently. Well, maybe I'm not getting excited, but perhaps not altogether repulsed is a better way to phrase it. Charging times are coming down and range is going up, making them a more viable option going forward. Cars like the Tesla Model S and the Jaguar I-PACE are changing my views.

A lot of electric cars have various colors of denim-like cloth across the interior of the doors or across the dashboards, which make them look cheap and/or already made of recycled material. I understand that such materials will cut down on glare across the surface of the dashboard, but it's not very aesthetically appealing. If cloth is to be used, it should be a dark uniform color that hides the texture, such as black. Extensive use of leather such as the traditional lineups of Cadillac/BMW/Mercedes/Porsche/etc is preferable and would make the cars more appealing.

Not keen at all on the spotty glass roof. The leading edge of my SmartCar has that sort of spot tint on it and it really doesn't do very much. When you're not blinded by the sun, you can't really see through it, but it does nothing to shield your eyes from sun glare - it's crap. A consistent tint across the whole glass to darken it uniformly without visible spots would be an improvement.

The exterior looks very nice. The exterior guys did a great job. Without the badges, it still says "Jaguar" to me. Not a single criticism there.

I wonder how much it'll cost when it goes on sale.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

i really think it's well done. Perfect for the market and it looks like a Jaguar.
I gotta say, many people wrote Jag off, but Ian Callum saved the day with all the latest designs.

    Amazing

I like it. It has the current Jag styling cues integrated well.

Now, if you mean , 'historical Jag styling cues', then no...no one that sint familiar with mdoern Jags would recognize it as a Jaguar.

Not a fan of Kens work in general, but he has supervised a few nice designs. Good video.

I particularly like the short clip of Gianni tweaking the front fender and talking about how it has to be done by hand -
I don't think many people appreciate how tactile design is; be it cars, furniture, or architecture.

BTW, has there been any news about projects from Bertone now that Giugiaro has taken possession?

speaking of Ital Design, they just showed this:
Italdesign Automobili Speciali supercar - Car Design News
Legendary styling house Italdesign has released the first pictures of its new supercar, the first of its new ultra-limited-production ‘Italdesign Automobili Speciali’ line. Five units are due to be made.

Bodied in carbon fibre, it is promised to have “racing car performance with type approval for normal roads” and has clearly been styled with aerodynamic performance very much a priority.

How the VAG-owned studio's new model fits with its sister company Lamborghini's products is something of a mystery, however.

    Pr Side
Initial reactions to the shots on social media have been rather mixed, but we'll be taking a closer look at its Geneva show launch and reporting back.

    Pr Rear
“The exterior is characterised by the two sides of the same medal,” said Filippo Perini, Head of Innovation Design in the press release: “Above the tornado line, outlines are distinctly softer and smoother in keeping with the Italian Gran Turismo tradition. The lower part is modelled from aerodynamics. To achieve the performances we had in mind, we had to dare beyond all limits from styling and even purely technical points of view. The outcome ensures extremely high impact without ever being design for design's sake.”

“The development of the one-off was based on the know-how achieved in the designing of hundreds of cars in our 49-years history” said Italdesign Chief Technical Officer Antonio Casu. “To reach the timing target we applied the latest CAx and Simulation Technologies. Styling has been integrated since the very beginning with early engineering and production processes. All this allowed us to produce a state-of-the-art car in terms of performance and safety.”

Just goes to show, you don't hit a home run every time at bat!

Boy that's a real hot mess! So many poorly designed elements I wouldn't know where to start.

Thanks for the heads up. That is right up my alley.

Other than the fact it looks like a cleaned up version of what they have been selling for the last 15 years.

I sometimes think all the auto manufactures should just hire one firm to do all their designs be it 2 door , 4 door, SUV, pickup truck, ect and slap their grill on the front and back. It would save a lot of money as no manufacturer thinks outside the box anymore other than to put a much larger grill/logo on their cars, not even the Italians. Maybe if they took away the designers phones and put them in a room for a year AND ALLOWED THEM to come up with something new that could change!!

Yes but both styles have been done over and over and over again....The Lexus is the more scary approach, jelly bean meets transformers wich seems to be only partly transformed :)

I should add, take away phone and not allow them to watch any cartoons !!!

I blame the manufactures a lot more than the designers. They sit and reject the rare interesting design that comes along. So If I was a designer I would be afraid to go outside the BOX.

Alternatively, if you're afraid to go outside the box, will you ever have the opportunity to work inside the box?
