Unfortunately, the prop blocks a bit of St. Helens, but otherwise you can see Mountains Rainier, St. Helens, and Adams all in this shot. Hood was clearly visible out the side window. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Flight testing our gear in Grand Prairie on the new Airbus H145D2, what a beast of a machine. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And probably Jefferson and 3 Sisters out the back window. If you were a little higher may have seen Glacier and Baker as well. PNW has the best CAVU of anywhere in the country.
Cool.. bunch of q's if I can.. You are medical ("..dr") but gear looks like surveillance? or is that thermal to find people for rescue? Airbus is "new" but looks like all kinds of different parts put together? Sorry for my confusion
I really want to see one or more of those mountains up nice and close.. I see there is a really interesting car/motorcycle/plane museum right by Mt Hood that actively does things as well Home - Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum
Each subcontractor's parts are a different color? http://www.airbushelicopters.com/website/en/press/Airbus-Helicopters-raises-the-maximum-take-off-weight-of-the-H145-to-3,700kg_1899.html
sir, good questions: - the different colors represent different factories, green is Kawasaki Heavy Ind. the yellow is Airbus Germany (Eurocopter) - not a medical Dr, have been working on helicopters since high school. we are the only company in world specializing in mounts for helicopters, including EO/IR, movie/ entertainment, LIDAR, searchlights etc. our mounts do all the overhead shot for F1
Super cool! Where in Vancouver are you? Ill be in Kamloops next week, Prince George shortly after, and Burnaby at the end of March.
Sir born and raised in Pitt Meadows, spend most of my time in sunny San Diego. if anyone is interested the world helicopter show is coming up in Dallas, called Heli-Expo, early March, you can see it all there. Not to be missed, think Monterey car week for helicopters.
I had my first solo flight yesterday. Aircraft was a Diamond DV20 Katana, at Hohenems airport (LOIH, western part of Austria). My flight instructor took me by surprise as I was expecting "regular" flight lessons. After a brief test flight with a second instructor (four-eye-principle implemented at our flight training school), I did three traffic patterns on my own. Picture shows a video printscreen of the final approach of the first traffic pattern. As runway 05 of LOIH is quite short (landing distance available 590m or approx. 1900ft), you have to make sure to land right at the beginning of the runway. That is why the approach is quite low. I will never forget this day. Cheers! Martin Image Unavailable, Please Login
Had to post this today as I am boarding a long flight over to Vancouver on an A330. This was the only plane I have not flown in yet with Air Canada. Which means in mere hours I will have flown the entire Air Canada fleet of Airplanes (excluding all configurations). 787 777 767 A330 A321 A320 A319 E190/175 CRJ705 CRJ200 CL65 CRJ100 Q4 Dash 8 - 300 Dash 8 - 100 Beechcraft 1900D I'm not sure if this is "cool" or just scary. Very fitting that I got into Premium Economy which is basically like business class on american carriers. lay back seats with a pillow/blanket, more leg room, and better width. It made the 4.5hr of flight time easier to deal with. Now lets finish my trip on the crop duster! From an A330 to a Dash 8-300. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Don. Thanks SVO. Yes, I like the Diamond very much as well. I was surprised on how much of a difference 160lb (weigth of my flight instructor) have on the flight characteristics of the aircraft. Completely different plane. Thanks Tamas. Very impressive list of airplanes you have experience with. I just started with my humble list Thanks Jim. Yep, it is quite a challenge in the beginning but I am glad to be able to learn this with the help of my flight instructor. I uploaded a video of the first solo traffic pattern: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZToB81KVZ0 Always happy to learn from the pros. Martin
Martin, Keep in mind I am, sadly, just a passenger on those flights. I've only had two flights behind the yolk of a plane (with an instructor)
