Yeah a new motor assy would help with speed and ease but it does not solve the amperage draw and subsequent voltage drop from the long run. I don't have my notes handy but I did measure the voltage and amperage drop and it's was fairly significant. IRC it was ~8V at the motor under load with 13.5V at the battery. The cable system is neat, self-correcting alignment etc.. but the load is high. Now if one goes to the trouble and goes thru and replaces the pulleys and bearings and uses a new cable, new motor assy etc.. then it would much faster and may not need the relays. From an electrical circuit view I'd much rather have the relays handle the load and the switches handle the low amp side. Maybe that's just me
I agree. I did no other changes than a window motor swap and the window (that I swapped) works perfectly.
That leads me to the conclusion, that the pefect solution would be new motors AND relays. Does anyone know how much current a window motor draws? I think it's too much und unhealthy for the mean switch contacts. Best Martin
Quite possibly. I tried a motor rebuild first with no noticeable improvement. New motors were good enough for me.
Personally I used Superformance motors. They seem to be identical to the motors sold by the Conus sellers.

I got very acceptable performance by just cleaning out the old 1979 grease in the gearing and replacing it with new. No new cables, motors, fuse boxes or relays. I know that hasn't worked for everyone, but might save you time and effort. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't have any idea: in some of my cars the mechanic replaced the motors with today motors and mechanism (and windows now are even too fast, ten times than before...), in others I still have the OEM motors and they are very slow (but they still work). No problems with fuse with new motors (complete of mechanism and ropes), of course: they drag less Ampere than the old ones. I think that cleaning everything of the mechanism and putting new grease could help, avoiding the motor change, but I have not the skills to fix them by myself so I have any idea if it works or not.
