It only looks good because they have cleverly painted that sail at the back in white. Not sure what happens when it gybes, does the driver have to duck?

Yes, true. Wonder if the vane is connected to the side pod below the opening. If so, it effectively defines the shape of the opening.

Alternately, the vane is just guiding the air through its naturally diffusing streamlines upstream of the opening.

Still the opening looks to be wider than other cars.

I wish Ferrari would put away those wheels and go to black. Maybe that would help.

I think the people's court would rule in favor of jcurry on this one. People's court, Judge Wapner, maybe you have heard of him?

I was looking for that! So far, only Mercedes has shown a similar extra skinny wing in that location. I saw an article by Craig Scarborough that pointed out the Mercedes mini-wing, he suggested that it is in about the height and width of last year's rear wings, and there may be some vestigial rule left over from last year that gives a loophole in the dimensional regs where they can run a skinny wing. It seems only Mercedes and Ferrari spotted it, so Ferrari is in good company!

They need gold wheels, maybe a little alchemy will help them win.

Mclaren going from exxon to Bp has resulted in even less advertising on the car

The main air intake looks really small. Looks better on the track I guess. I don't know... its just disconcerting to see Merc come out with what appears to be such a superbly engineered and high end car compared to these others where it seems they just didn't quite get to that next level of implementing their designs. It's all appearance I guess and the talking will be done on the track...

The Ferrari looks to me like it was designed by half-a-dozen different people who weren't talking to one another. I predict (hoping that I'm wrong) that it won't win a race.

The Ferrari car looks like a total sh!etshow.

And omg, how did McLaren botch the orange...we all had such high hopes...why...how...looks like the Halloween edition of a Marussia car...

It's like amateur hour from both these outfits, I guess our last hope of a Mercedes contention is really the soda company...what a joke.
