And after how many of these incidents did Toto blame Lewis and repremanded him? I don´t remember one occasion where Toto actually took the side of Nico...But we all remember Spa and how he reacted after that virtually destroying Nicos self-confidence for more than a season...It´s like a mother loving one of their children more...that does not mean that the other is not allowed to eat at the table but he will always know that he is No.2 and the preferred one was certainly Lewis, one could see that over all the years when looking into Totos face or listen to his words. Nico never got the background he needed and this is most likely one of the reasons he left when he won his one WDC.

Mercedes never interefered in the WDC by giving them uneven material, neither in one nore the other direction (although not few of the Hamilton-fanboys indicated so last season) but there are other ways to support one driver over the other. I still think Toto would have preferred Lewis taking the crown but being in the focus of the entire F1-world taking away the WDC by doing weird stuff to Nicos car would have destroyed the entire image Mercedes tried to achieve over the last years!

If all we have left to do is argue about Lewis Hamilton and his teammate's fortunes, the season is already toast.

Really..and yet he won to races in the wet, blew everyone else at a wet Monaco and lost a german g:p under a flood only due to a bad set of tyres (one in wich i remenber a certain crane picking a certain driver)...so please, explain me again why he's hopeless in the wet?

Your right..it was never even close, without the blown engine 3 laps from the end at Hungaroring, without the blown engine in australia because Mosley decided that everyone had to use Mclaren ECUs, without the **** ups Ferrari made in canada, wich costed felipe the win, sending him to 17..he reciovered to fifth, without that rigged race That Alonso won, that massa was confortably leading from pole..your right..Massa would have won for more than 30 points that year.

2017 will give us plenty of opportunities to resurrect the http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/f1/191171-massa-sucks-thread-%2A-course-there-spoilers%2A.html thread, which fizzled last year because we were being kind and didn't want to kick a driver when he was being forced out of F1 because nobody, including his current team, wanted him the following year. He's only driving in 2017 because of Rosberg's unexpected retirement and Martini insists on having a driver older than 25 in Williams, and baby Stroller's contract requires an experienced driver in the other car who will mentor the rookie... and Mercedes is essentially paying Massa's salary this year.

Anyway, back to Massa in wet conditions - Bwaahaahaaahaaahaahaha! Very entertaining! The best of all was Silverstone 2008, where Massa deserved a special award for most spins without damaging the car. It was a truly amazing yet cringeworthy performance, he spun no less than 6 times, and finished dead last. Meanwhile, Hamilton won the race, with a gap of over 68 seconds to second place. Even with Ferrari's same tire screwups on both cars (changing from full wet to intermediates at the first stop), Kimi still managed to finish 4th. When was the last time a Ferrari with no mechanical problems finished dead last in a F1 race, solely due to the driver's incompetence? Massa was an embarrassment.

Massa was barely competent in the wet when the cars had traction control (before someone trundles out Massa vs Kubica in Japan 2007 as an example of his alleged wet skills, those cars had traction control), when the traction control was abolished for 2008, Massa became a joke in the wet and remains a joke. If the track is wet, Massa trundles along and drops off the pace of the other drivers, every time.

SF70H is already my home screen, lock screen and wallpaper :D I think McLaren should go back to the iconic white and orange block colors to get their mojo back.

McLaren's idea of what orange looks like on the MCL32 is worlds away from the orange that Bruce McLaren drove. The new car is not orange, it is weak red.

If you still haven't learn by know what hapened at Silverstone perthaps you shouldn't be discussing it.
Of course when he won in Brasil 2008 in the wet...wet enough for Vettel to trounce Your friend Elton while driving an all mighty Toro Rosso, Felipe won the race without ever being chalenged....and of course, took pole at Monaco in the wet and was laping 1sec a lap quicker then everyone else for the first part of the race...race in wich i remenber Hamilton won because he was so good in the wet that he crashed the car against the barriers puncturing a tire...wich actualy handed him the victory after Alonso hit someone with his renault causing a red flag...but of course you should perhps forget about that so that you theory can make some sense...

What's your excuse for Silverstone 2008? That the car was set up for the dry? What idiot chose a dry setup when the forecast was for the wet, and every other driver/team set up for the wet? How come Kimi could manage 4th, while all Massa could manage in the same car was dead last, 2 laps behind, embarrassing Ferrari with their worst ever finish for an undamaged car?

My friend Elton? I was discussing how crappy and useless Massa is, not necessarily relative to Hamilton - although Hamilton trounced everyone at Silverstone, he notably lapped Massa twice. I'm surprised you didn't proclaim that Massa won Spa 2008 in the wet, when he was in fact trundling along in third being way left behind by Kimi and Hamilton, when he was gifted the win by evil manipulative Max Mosley.

Fact is that Massa was never much good in the wet, he still isn't much good in the wet. If the race is wet, look for Massa to lose a place or two.

Since Massa figures he can cash in on another year making up places at Williams, the Massa Sucks thread will be fair game, no sympathy this year as last year for him, where we felt he deserved a little bit of dignity for being forced out of F1.

Is this the car presentation thread or the I hate/ love Massa thread?

If it's the latter it will go on all season. :)

Back to the ugly cars please....

...so I'm not sure who Gene is hiring for the paint scheme but wow is that odd. Last year was just hot wheels style amateurish... This year is just weird as hell.

Come on people. The cars are way better looking than 2016. They aren't perfect, but they never are... Juat wait till they hit the track. The times will be blistering and records will tumble.

As for Massa - he has no place in F1. He was past his best nearly a decade ago. He has never won a wdc. He can't drive in the wet. He's scared and he is consistently slaughtered by his teammate. Why does the sport insist on carrying his out of date baggage every year? The fact that he is still in the sport is way more embarrassing than the tech specs of this year's cars.

Not to defend Massa but it is funny that followers of Hamilton throw the "lame excuse" on others...Exactly those who are famous for "excuses" over the last 10 years whenever their boy did not win...that is too funny...

So to sum this all up: Massa is crap (especially in the rain), Button is a journey man and Rosberg a vanilla driver but we are still told frequently what a great achievement it is from Lewis beating them making his WDCs something special among all the others :D
I can´t wait to see those comments about Hamilton doing wonders over the winter just by laying his hand on it when the car again is a second quicker in the first test session when he sits in the car for the first time and how deserved it is ;)
Then he will beat his team mate in his debute season for MB and we will be told alternately that Bottas is no match for Hamilton or that Bottas is at least the second best driver in the world just showing how great Lewis is by beating him...Can´t wait for the season to start and repeating all these "reasonable" comments from the last years...I hope at least that nobody has to make up a story again how unfair it is that Bottas has Hamiltons mechanics or how unfair it is he has not :D
