Thanks, to be honest I was not aware of it - just found that it sold in 2014: 1964 Ferrari 275 GTB/C Speciale by Scaglietti | Monterey 2014 | RM Sotheby's
Your observation and question is very pertinent because the car labelled in the picture 275 GTB is in fact a 275 GTB/C which to my understanding is a mixing of a Berlinetta and a Competizzione. Because the space was only enough to put one 275 the option was to use the two pictures which looked the best, I labelled it according to the first car from 1964 which was the GTB and didn't add the C in order not to introduce further confusion. An harmless omission LOL ...
I like it, its cleaner and easier on my eyes. Agreed, and I think where Ferrari has a huge advantage and this is often overlooked is the integration of various systems. Wow, fantastic work Mario, thank you!
The difference in weight between the two cars (488 and 720S) on the road - fluids and all of that - will be significant. I am just happy that these two great companies will push each other to be the best they can.
Yes, I'm sure that could be true. I suppose the point is that such weight savings will come from lighter componentry and that Ferrari's commitment to Alumimium doesn't exclude it from doing similar if it wished.
Interesting data on the tubs. CF body panels are another big source of savings - about 50% of the 100kg saving going from 650S to 675LT come from CF body parts and seats.
of2worlds, LVP488, F12KID, C50, jm2, Caeruleus11. Thank you very much for your kind words that was done with a great pleasure and will to learn and I hope the photos presented that way help to understand better the evolution of the V12 Ferraris Gt's 2 seaters.
I've just come back this eve from the factory private viewing of the 812 and fwiw thought I'd share some fresh thoughts having physically seen it in the flesh for the 1st time ..... The overall impact of the car is stunning from every angle IMHO. I had the same fears as many that the rear seemed v odd on the leaked/official photos but in the metal it really works esp the almost 'wrap over spoiler ' feature over the tail lights - the combined 4 lights and tailpipes really give a wide but balanced proportion to the rear relative to what otherwise could have been a too large an expanse of metal. I've always been a fan of the rear diffuser being black /cf , however on the 812 the body coloured rear diffuser looks like the better choice - on the settanta preview car ( superb colour btw and probably the colour il eventually consider having seen it ). The front has a more gentle appearance from a distance but as you get closer , it seems to look slightly more aggressive due to the way the nostril type vents appear to become more prominent . The side view of the car is a real pleasure - I think FDC have created a genuine masterpiece in the form/function/aesthetic . Even after spending 10 mins just looking at the side intently i can genuinely say it's a marvel of sculpting - I know I may sound a bit giddy in my praise but the lower line of the side airflow sculpting compared to the f12 seems to lower and lengthen the appearance compared to the f12..... The large flowing lines and number of fine details mean that I think the 812 will be greatly more colour dependant than the f12 in giving a softer or harsher appearance - the use of 'Dreamlines ' rather than bold stripes will be lots of fun and certainly make the car 'pop'..... The boot is simply superb in design - quite deep but clean , angular and certainly adequate as a grand tourer..... The cabin is pretty familiar but just seems so less cluttered and bare ( in a good way)- the steering wheel looks and feels just right -again seems cleaner and less cluttered .... The view in the side mirrors is a bit disappointing but made up for by the front bonnet view. On a separate matter , during the presentation you could hear race cars (gt3s I assume ....) which were so wonderfully loud that they added to the presentation and it was almost impossible to not grin like an idiot when you heard the 'blip blip' as they spread past whilst the speaker was giving the technicals .... The 812 will I think become a proper classic -not only as the last NA V12 , but also in its own right . Bellissimo!
Thanks for sharing your views of the new 812. Did Ferrari actually say the 812 will be the last NA V12 or is it just assumed? There may be an 812 Aperta to later on...
Dear Jag shergill, thank you for sharing your impressions and opinions. Very encouraging! What colors do you think will work best?
No , they didn't say it would be the last but as with most of us , assumed ..... I would be v surprised (again no special knowledge) if there wasn't at least 1 LE version later .
Thank you . There were the same 2 cars as others have mentioned about the viewings over the last 2 weeks - an actual settanta rosso car ( which we could sit in , open/close doors /boot etc ) and a design full size "model"- which was a beautiful Matt type Grigio - looked v stealth but not in a gaudy way.
Thanks. The Tifosi in me really wanted to like the car regardless- but I was delighted ( and relieved ) in its appearance . The figures speak for themselves but from an aesthetic viewpoint I believe most ( PF purists and non PF purists ) customers will be delighted . The colour aspect is tough as there were only the 2 on view , however I believe customising the colour for the impact you want to make will greatly alter the overall visual statement of this car more than others. I believe the lines lend themselves to the lighter colours /Grigio / etc if you want to show the dynamic movement effect ( btw the wheels are v attractive - giving the impression of movement even when stationary ) , but I think the brighter reds (2007 f1, settanta, scuderia etc ) will allow enough shadowing effect on the curves ( actually quite angular /sharp close up on the sides ) to give totally different visual impact from just slightly different positions. The Neros will look stunning too - yes you lose some detail /shadowing but I believe would almost give a Laferrari side view around the door airflow areas . The possible greatly different subtle effects the different colours will have I think can only be judged to be a success or not when we start seeing the different colours in the flesh - there have been some amazing renderings ( and some so so 😜 But I think I need to see several diff colours in the wild - but I'm pretty sure what my choice will be .Personally , at this early stage ,Im favouring going for either the Rosso settanta or Giallo Tristrato - possibly black or silver gloss roof( respectively ) but with body coloured rear diffuser , made with white ( on the settanta ) or black ( on the Giallo tristrato) dreamlines on the bonnet and on the side curves ...... I can't explain why but I've got a sneaking suspicion that she wil look stunning in some of the Biancos as well. I'm sure that the many forthcoming pages of deliberations , discussions and images that Fchatters will post over the next year or so are going to show a greater willingness for some quite a avante garde livery .
yes, there was a gt3 testing yesterday and it crashed twice.. https://www.instagram.com/p/BRBb5yFgykQ/?taken-by=albyhf https://www.instagram.com/p/BRBapCPgtiU/?taken-by=albyhf https://www.instagram.com/p/BRBPvFFgkRo/?taken-by=albyhf
