    Good day JMFC,

IT is usually a god idea to do a search on here with the chassis number to see if there are other threads on a particular car. If so, then one can simply add to the previous thread(s) in order to consolidate the car's history, etc. That said there are threads on 30721 along with a few posts referencing it:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/365-gt4-2-2-400-412/170089-400i-1980-convertible-30721-now-texas.html

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/365-gt4-2-2-400-412/159147-400i-1980-convertible-sale.html

    etc...

Perhaps we should make this one the most current and archive the info within the Ebay ad?

    Cheers,

    Sam

This one sounds like an engineering feat properly achieved by Bob Norwood's shop. This is his website: Norwood Auto Italia

I remember being a kid and first reading about his creations - think perhaps it was for a Road & Track speed shootout where he brought a twin turbo GTO with a huge scoop over the roof? It takes some gravitas to do the work he does and a rather heavy wallet to cover the mods.

Unlike the silver Twin Turbo 400 that has been languishing for years with little interest, this one looks like a complete interior/exterior/mechanical restoration was done based on the earlier pics when it was green. Convertibles may not be everyone's cup of tea, but the Norwood mod's as well as the car's overall presentation certainly make it more enticing.

It has now been listed at the www.bringatrailer.com website here:

    Hello,

I have a Straman 1985 Honda CR-X Si in my collection . The roof mechanism is stamped with a number “ST1069” ( if I recall).

There were aprox. 310 CR-Xs converted, less than 40 are known to still be around ( 8 Si models in existence ).

Wondering if the 400i has a stamp or some sort of build number ?

Why? Straman converted quite a few cars in their time. I think it's sort of cool to get a look at other parts of their history.

300ZXs, Dodge Stealths, CRXes, targa topped 512is, convertible Testarossas, Camaros, Mercedes, Rolls, etc. Kind of a cool company.

Meaning, they were available from Chrysler from the get go....not making some owner do the conversion themselves with another company. Pretty sure they were available from Chrysler themselves from very early on.

But again, maybe I'm missing the point of your post?

Don't be a cranky pants and yes you missed my point. I thought it was clear I found it ridiculous that someone would not only convert a civic to a convertible but someone would actually pay for one.

hahahaha. I mean, I got your attempt at a joke, (I wasn't sure where you were going with it), but the first gen CRX Si was a great car. You've never driven one?

Personally, I think it's a shame that any car is cut like that in the aftermarket, but I do respect the history of it and Straman was actually sort of a neat point in history. And then your K-car joke? haha. Don't quit your day job for a stand-up career. ;)

Anyway. The question was did Straman use a stamp or build number?

I just never imagined such a car was converted and I forgot about the Dodge 600, cant imagine getting hit in any converted car. I had an 89 Civic Si and it was a great car, my 03 e39 M5 was much better ;)

Yeah the 89 Civic Si hatch was back when Honda made some great cars.

Forgot about the Dodge 600!?! Now you need to watch Planes, Trains, and Automobiles to get reacquainted. :)
