I have to play around with it more in race mode. I just got the car about a month and a half ago and installed the valve controller recently then we had 10" of snow. Snow now gone so I just need to get the time to get it out there and mess around with it more in race mode. But it certainly seems like there was more burbling in race mode with valves open.
I will let you know next time I'm out with it.

    Great feedback guys!!

Fwiw anyone can get 'bangs' if they have an original ecu car: just replace the stock
cats with straight pipes or race cats, 'bangs' get even louder with 100 Aki :D

Those who like more subdued run-on can leave the stock cats :)

Awesome. Thank you for the info. Details like this are vital when it comes to getting the full picture of the changes that Ferrari made between original and updated calibrations :)

I'll be happy to oblige :)

That sounds like an original ECU to me as well....

CONGRATS!! How in the world did you find a 2011 with such low mileage, by the way? What a great find!!

Yes, it sounds like you have one of the older ECU calibrations. Which isn't surprising since it seems like the car basically purchased in 2010/2011 and then parked for a few years :)

If you take it to a dealer for servicing, ask them not to update your software. Although there is a good chance they will have to. If they do, you will lose those nice burbles.

    Congrats on the car!

To Shiv's point, you really should do as 458Trofeo does when he takes his car to the dealer, and make them sign an agreement that they will NOT update your ECU! Otherwise that beautiful sound will go away....

I said this in my thread, but figured it should be here too: my 2011 that I just picked up has the stock ecu

Thank you guys for all the info !!! I love the sound of this car , I'm so glad I found you haha !!!!!!! I was making a deal on 2013 Italia with 8000 miles , didn't work out , then she told me she has 2011 with 500 miles and it's so loud , I said 500 miles ? She told me the previous owner trade all his Ferraris with low miles , then I said why will it be louder then other ferraris ? She said I don't know why 2011 are always louder , I told her they louder because you trying to sell me this car !!! She said no it's really louder , I didn't believe her till I was reading your chat !!! So thanks again

What exactly are they updating that you have to tell them not to? Is it a campaign?

Yes indeed. It's a dealership mandated software update. Although it seems that some have been able to keep their dealership from doing it on their 2010-2011 cars. But there will soon be a solution to all those updated 2010-2011 and those unfortunate 2012 and up cars that never sounded special in the first place ;)

Update: ECUs were removed from Mike's 2013 Spider last night. They were opened and backed-up this morning and then reinstalled so I could drive the car home. The Capristo exhaust valve controller was also removed. Tonight I'll start working on the tune file. And tomorrow I will start my testing, followed by video recording the results. In the meantime, here are some pics of the process so far :)

A couple other parameters you might want to look at when comparing files is the Canister vent and purge duty (at decel?) and the injected air duty (at decel?).
