McLaren 720S - 2017

Bummer! I was supposed to go to the LA reveal but had to take a business trip to Chicago. I'll say one thing- Mclaren has done a great job of hyping up this release.

 

I'm seeing it tomorrow, can't wait.

Saw the 720S in person, OMG what a car. Easy to get in & out, the door are freaking amazing, like laFerrari but even better. The interior is gorgeous and what you'd see in cars at twice the price. High resolution color screen, apple carplay, etc. Great UI. With the glass canopy you really have no blind spots. Awesome storage shelf behind the rear seats, kinda like a 575M. And that digital dash that transforms into a mini display is just too cool. If you're into tech like I am there is a lot to love about this car.

Oh that's sick!

 

Actually they got rid of Normal mode. Its now comfort mode. Because there's nothing normal about the 720S.

 

That is insane... bravo McLaren, to think that you just entered the brutal world of mass produced supercars 6 years ago, Ferrari and Lambo have some real competition now...

that is cool; good to see them thinking outside the box on the production car side seeing as the F1 team stinks.

Its a gorgeous car. The question now is how will it hold up in resale. Im getting one for sure. Just not sure I want a first year model (the 570s seem to be having some issues) and will there be a dip in prices in about a year or so.

Regardless- its friggin gorgeous. color looks great also.

 

Hmmmm... not sure if this is cool or silly. I go back and forth on this one.

 

The tailpipe notches in the rear bumper are something completely new. Interesting.

But to some degree it goes against the McLaren ethos of saving every gram.

 

Yeah but its still pretty light. 2829 dry weight.

There's some new styling elements may have to grow on me.

 

Not completely new since a similar design was used on the LT... and McLaren being McLaren it probably has some weight savings, expect every detail about shedded weight on every part of the car at the Geneva launch...

The leaked picture is sensational, the car really does resemble a baby hypercar.

With the upcoming Huracan Perfomante posting a stupendous 6:52.01 lap time making it the fastest production car to lap Nurburgring and the immense tech (and hype) on the 720s I really wonder if Ferrari has what it takes to stay in the game....

 

It might not depreciate as much as people anticipate it to as only 400 will be built this year in 3 different specs (basic, mid and full with full being loaded with carbon everywhere and mid spec having some bits in the interior and basic probably being the fastest out the factory in delivery time...) and MSO will only be available mid 2017, seems as if McLaren are understanding the market and coming good, this is all just what I've read anyways...

 

That's only the launch edition. However, this car is in higher demand and McL will not need to push it into the dealer rooms. So much better that the fax machine.

 

Pretty difficult given the weight disadvantage of all models...
