Over the past few years I have received 2 actual pieces of mail to my home with my name on them trying to sell me something. One was a Ferrari dealer (from what I recall) and this latest one was from an exotic (not Ferrari specific) used car dealer.

Only 2 entities know my information: the insurance company and the state DMV.

I have changed insurance companies once since my ownership and can't remember the exact time frames of the past letter and insurance company.

My question is, who is selling my Ferrari specific information?

years ago you could get addresses of people who owned a Ferrari in Texas, that's how clubs tried to get members. it hasn't been like that in 10+ years though.

Everyone is in the business of selling info these days. It is quite valuable.

Car manufacturers can get your info from state DMV even though most states have privacy laws. It is done in the interest of recalls etc but get used for other things. They share it with authorized dealers. You can bet any large organization or business that has ever had your info has sold it...like I said, big business. It is why we are asked for name address and email in all kinds of transactions even if it is not required for that transaction.

Insurance companies, magazine publishers, the True Value Hardware Store...whoever has your name and address and has some idea what you like or what you do it is for sale. I give false info whenever possible for just that reason.

While I have no dealership/service facility history for any reason, anywhere on earth, I have purchased parts from 2 exotic parts suppliers. That's probably it. This last one is a weird version of my name I was only able to find on whitepages. Which is even stranger, but maybe not. It is aggravating though.
