Novel idea, how about 10 points for the one who overtakes the most, however. :)

The problem is the more rules you have the more you stifle the sport, adding something to tweak the interest will only last for a few races and then you have to invent another and so it goes on.

RB will only work within the guidelines put down already, he is a talented intelligent person but I don't think he will upset the apple cart. We had all the technical working groups supported by many of the top engineers over several years and its a bit like the poacher and game keeper. IMO A radical shift is required and the current crop of self interested people within the sport is not going change it.

Many years ago, the fastest lap in a GP used to be rewarded with one point.

That was at the time when only the first 6 finishers were scoring, and the fastest lap earned as much as the 6th spot.

Oh, well, there you go. Maybe it's time to revisit an old idea then. :)

    All the best,

I like your idea of a back up car. If I'm not mistaken it did exist at some point in the past.

Paddy Lowe was already dropping hints last year that they would look at returning to NA engines 2020+. RB has also repeated it multiple times since coming back. That's the number one priority.

I agree that they can make things more interesting through the points system. The most organic way to do it would be giving points for pole and fastest lap. Anything else would be a farce.

There's a whole lot wrong with F1. I'm terrified of them trying anything new...just look at the stupidity of qually in the beginning of last year. I'd rather them concentrate on cleaning up the nonsense that already exists. Grid penalties for one are ridiculous. You get hit from behind by some stooge and your box fails. Not only do suffer from being knocked out.. the next race your starting 5 or whatever places back if you've gone through a couple already. From a fan perspective... let's say you like Lewis or Seb... doesn't matter... how interested are you now that they have to start mid-pack or from the back or even pitlane. These stupid rules take the fan right of the sport.

I also find stupid to penalise drivers for mechanical failures, or for going over the allotted number of engines/gearboxes; that's the team responsibility and nothing to do with the man at the wheel.

If that system had been in place in the last 3 seasons, Mercedes would have been the main beneficiary!!

    I COMPLETELY agree with this.

But what I can see is they take TEAM points away but not driver's points. Penalize the team for team failures -- not the drivers.

Get rid of tire rules and bring back refueling. Add points for fastest lap and pole.

Reduce the points scored to 15,12, 10, 8, then 7 thru 1, so lots of places can get points, and no one can run away at the front and be untouchable. Reintroduce t-cars to avoid non-starters etc. No artificial engine/gearbox/other parts rubbish. Grid penalties have to stay for drivers that impede/block/do an Elton.

Refuelling and FREE choice of tyres and compounds to return, and qualy to be an hour of fast laps, minimum 12 per driver, but if you want to do fifty, do it.

No fuel limits, and make some ****ing noise!

I personally am not a fan of refueling. It is dangerous and one major accident could really ruin the sport. That's why they got rid of it.

I agree with getting rid of tire rules. It's made up nonsense.

One thing they need to do is get rid of the stupid blame game on who crashed into who. Unless it was DELIBERATE and not just a bad mistake in judgement that didn't work out, there's no need to penalize anyone.

Risk taking should be encouraged, not discouraged.

With refueling they end up racing in the pits through strategy rather than on track. Been there, done that, no thanks.

Motor sport is dangerous - introduce a bit more peril. Refuelling the f1 way was pretty safe, barely any incidents and those were controlled well......

Refueling need not be dangerous. NASCAR will refuel cars during the cup series races about 6,000 times this year. There will be no fires.

For God's sake, give us two races on Sunday and be done with it. Compared to Ecclestone Brawn is too much of a thinker IMO

Ok. You want 20 second pit stops? Because F1 cars refuel themselves with high pressure to force in gasoline in 3 seconds.

Or you want to be like other forms where they spend 10 seconds fueling and then let them change tires?

Why? F1 races only run about 90 minutes. Let them have one tank of gas. What's the big deal?

All cars are already "underweight", even with a full tank of gas. All they do is add extra ballast to balance the cars better to bring them up to the minimum. Taking away more fuel only means more ballast.
