Many congratulations for having turned this dream and the ambition true and like a poet once said "Dream commands life ". When I read about the purple ink you used to sign I went to check which color Enzo used to write those hundreds of letters to his beloved Fiamma Breschi and I can confirm wasn't purple but violet. Apparently Enzo used the violet ink and was famous for that.
Wrong ink Tim. You will have to do it all again! LOL Desperate to see your car too. Are you coming to the FOC 50th celebrations at the Savoy next weekend? I hear there will be some special cars on display outside.
Thank YOU for sharing, Tim. Generous of you. Although I'm not eligible for a LE car, I can only dream perhaps someday... I have added this trip to my bucket list. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Which is what I did, and after a lot of work........ Now if I can just get to a computer as opposed to an ipad, you will be relieved to hear I am pretty much at the end of my journey and next step is to finally post the car. However, many eagle eyed readers will recall, I arrived with a broken SLR after lending it to a friend, so I'm afraid it's mostly iPhone pics.
Very interesting. I too have a letter from Enzo, not in the same vein as Fiamma's I hasten to add, and whilst faded you may well be right. However, looking through the address book, I did notice something darker and closer to purple so I will let it stand.
Incredible thread. What an experience! And I would like to say not sad at all. I know the sad comments are all a bit tongue in cheek, but I think life would not be worth living without dreams and inspiration and Mr. Enzo Ferrari had his own and then did the same for many of us. And the brilliance of Ferrari's road cars is you can drive one for just a few minutes and you will instantly feel that connection. This trip is definitely on my list. I wonder if reliving it now via the forum, posting the pictures and telling the story, is it a bit surreal? I know that's how it would feel to me as the intense excitement and emotion would probably forever color the experience (in the best possible way). Either way I can only say I'm sitting here at my computer with the biggest grin possible for you! (PS- proud member of the "Saddo" club!)
Disappointing. Grey has always been my comfort zone on all contemporary cars, and I can feel myself already being drawn there for the 812, but for this car I felt compelled to leave It. The only way this thread can now end, tomorrow, is in great disappointment......
I swear I don't have any family ties with FFantastic Ahahahah swallow a wasp OMG that made me laugh. And +1000 about less P & R and more car !!!
I've got an idea. I saw it in a film somewhere...... "Tim, don't show us the car...we don't want to see any more beautiful TDF's........"
Well I cannot get to a PC until tomorrow, which means only single pics, but this has gone on long enough, probably too long actually, and so I will start ending this by posting a few pics from Casa Ferrari as that is where the journey of this thread started. As I said, mostly iPhone pics and due to the exposure limitations thereof, the colour is disappointingly not that true for what is a very complex one, but then this is what I have until I post the wrapping shots which get a bit closer. The colour is a very metallic blue with naturally some grey in it, for my comfort zone security, but appears nigh on impossible to accurately photograph. Let me also remind you of the brief I gave to myself and Tailor Made so as to set the scheme in context, Stylish, Classic, Sporty but Individual with a nod to History more of which becomes apparent in the interior. Tim she is beautiful! Can you share what the name of the color is, and if it is a one off for you, or are others able to spec it as well?
Absolutely stunning! I have enjoyed this thread tremendously, thank you so much for sharing this amazing experience.
The reveal does not disappoint. All those boxes are checked. Stunning, and thank you for your generosity of spirit to share your journey with the great number of us for whom such an endeavor is just a dream. Enjoy your car in the best of health. T
Thank you guys. It is somewhat of a one off colour through Tailor Made so naming is difficult and I am interested to see what is on the paint tag when I actually have her in the garage this weekend. I will post more exterior shots tomorrow but a few of the inside which are a little more accurate. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's a very beautiful blue and I can only long for more pictures that hopefully reveal more of this intriguing colour. The grey undoubtedly shows. But Tim, please, give us a name to chew! As for Zaius' post, I took it as a fun and somewhat accurate analogy, I casually felt like in Holy Land when I visited Maranello.
