    I said everyone "I know".

675LT is about to hit that tank as well--already seeing it happen.

As to maintenance you're one of the few. Nightmare for everyone I know (I get it except you, I don't know you).

I always love the 'McLaren is coming into their own'--what the hell does that mean. Nothing. Wouldn't touch one after talking to OWNERS that made that mistake. Reading Mc forum is funny on 'new 570' issue after issue from new owners.

    Enjoy your P1.

I had a 12C spider, two years, 14K miles, original owner. Just annual service and two small nits, both well documented. Seat module for memory movement and temp display. Other than that, gas, oil and tires.

Can't you find something else to say? You repeat it constantly.

Some people have way more money than you and aren't bothered by depreciation. Not to mention how much some people just lose on taxes as well since many states don't give trade in credit. What's the loss on a 488 right after buying it? 20-30k+ on taxes alone?

IPO1 it sounds like youre just out of youre league. like I said before if you're not comfortable with losing 100k you shouldn't buy any car in this price range. We get it you think it will have horrible maintenance issues even though you're also wrong on that. 12c owners are a fairly small group and we know what maintenance issues there have been. And I wouldn't assume something that may have happened on some 12c somewhere is going to happen on thr 720.

What I meant by McLaren coming into their own is now they have enough customers and data and have learned what not to do. For example thus car has apple carplay, not the iris system that plagued early 12c's (which was still miles better than what Ferrari had in the 458). They have added a playfulness into the car which did not exist on early cars (hopefully I don't need to explain what playfulness means).

    Truth hurts...I know.

$20-30 taxes on both cars +$100K depreciation on McLaren on top. Ouch.

    Oh CarPlay--that's cutting edge LOL.

How many of you have a 720 on order?? Just curious?

Alright, back to Ferrari threads--this thread is about as bad as McLaren forum--big circle jerk

Dude- why you so mad? We are all car enthusiasts here and last I checked none of us owns Ferrari or Mclaren. It's one thing to say you don't dislike the way a car drives or looks. If you seem to be taking things personally.

Relax. I hope the 720 does well. Means Ferrari will up its game. Good for the end user.

If the 720 tanks, good for those who can pick one up cheap.

At the end of the day, it's just a car.

Most cars depreciate. It's part of the game. Only in retrospect do you know which ones were destined to hold their Value or go up. Like most other assets.

    I completely agree.

As to depreciation that goes with the territory. But as long as McLaren pushes cars into the US market instead of holding back demand, prices are going to fall quickly.

That's bad for first adopters and good for used car enthusiasts without such deep pockets.

    LOL.

Hardly mad dude--my life is fantastic.

Just made my points. If you don't like that's okay. It's a forum. Chill.

    These are my points:

    - McLaren Depreciates too much (Yes, duh, exotics depreciate--they seem to have excessive)
    - Not enough dealers to service them
    - Issues (per owners I know) are prevelant
    - They put out too many versions

That's it. My opinion. Take it or leave it--don't care.

PS - Think the 720 is lack luster :)

I own Ferraris, McLarens, Porsches, Fords. Have owned many other brands as well. Pretty much all of them depreciated. My 575M, paid 268k, sold for 92k. It happens to all brands. But the enjoyment I get from them is worth it to me.

A buddy of mine (was on this forum, now deceased), had more money than god but was a chronic low baller. It didn't matter if he was buying a time machine, if it lost even the smallest amout he hated it and that completely overshadowed his enjoyment of it. Unfortunately he died at 45 and missed out on a lot of fun.

This summer, I'm driving my 720 from London to Monaco Grand Prix and doing some fun events with it. I really dont care if it loses some value because I get the fun out of it. Different strokes for different folks I guess. But thats what they're for.

Completely agree. Arguing about depreciation is like arguing why I didn't by Amazon in the 90's for $6 a share. :)

Fanboy of what? All the threads about how many problems the car has and how unreliable it is? Telling people not to buy one out of warranty? I think I'm totally critical of McLaren.

What I'm not is someone who whines about depreciation. Things in life costs money. Spend your money where you feel it's most worthwhile. As if the depreciation on an exotic car is the most wasteful way owners are parted from their money

    You're such a whiner.

A reasonable spec 12C has depreciated $130K over 5 years.

You talk about it like a McLaren depreciated $100K every year when in reality if you keep the car any reasonable amount of time, depreciation is a little worse than par. Don't sell your car every 6 months if you care about cost.

So after 3-5 years, you're out a few months income in depreciation. How painful.

BTW, got any more leads on 150K 570S? Still waiting on all those amazing deals you claimed were out there....

One of the hallmarks of revolutionary modern designs on anything, cars especially is how they make other designs look much older than they really are. It might take time to be understood but by the time customers take delivery of the 720s, the major audience will probably accept it and perhaps even love how it looks, as with most cars, they always look better in the flesh.

I adore Ferrari and grew up having posters (calendars too) of their cars (alongside Lamborghini of course..) in my house but it's funny how most people here are bashing McLaren for apparent issues on their cars.

People are all too quick to forget how the 458('s) literally burnt to crisps when it came out, for a then 70 year old company that only makes supercars and racing cars exclusively with a life threatening engineering oversight like that is acceptable 'because it's Ferrari' but a 6 year old start up to have some slight issues is just blasphemy?

I understand that this is Ferrari chat after all but this is just silly, also the depreciation
thing needs to be dropped, it's getting rather old rather quick...

You buy a car because you want to drive it and enjoy whatever time you spending doing in/with it and not so you can retain 60% of what you paid for it in the first place, I'm all for mitigating your depreciation risks but if that's all you're focused on you shouldn't be buying it new then...

Regardless of what the so called 'tifosi' on here say, the 720s will sell and as a result, shake up the supercar segment up for the better, akin to what the NSX did in the 90s to the F355.
We all know that perhaps Ferrari's best work is only shown under heavy competition so that might be something to look forward to...

Wow! As in a similar "wow" I expressed when McLaren introduced the F1. The P1 got a "wow", but not like this 720S.

An incredibly bold design, particularly the front end headlight area. Incredibly unique and distinguished. I love it!

So far, I have only seen pictures of it with the blacked-out roof. I would like to see one all body color. I am also trying to picture it as a convertible.

McLaren appears to be committed to producing road cars, and I feel that they are going in the right direction. They are taking chances at differentiating themselves, and are producing some very impressive machinery. Unlike Lamborghini, they have the F1 pedigree to be taken very seriously. Nice to have another very serious player in this arena.
