We are talking about 720, not your precious F1.

And yes we need some pros to drive it (or is this a buy it and trust us 'it's great' car) in order to validate the fan boys like you (and nooner).

Have you driven 720? (don't care what else you own--you don't own 720)

Didn't think so, until then it's all guessing/opinion from people who have never been behind the wheel.

Interesting Lambo took Performante to the track before reveal in Geneva and announced results...why didn't McLaren???

You can probably dial it back a notch - acrimony not required.

You must be talking to frefan.

Listen, I've laid out the facts, others want to push fake news.

Simple question--HAS ANYONE HERE DRIVEN 720. NO.

End of story. Anything else is just opinion based upon pictures.

No one has driven it. Simple.

Is that so hard to comprehend? I hope not.

I had a long conversation with bruno senna who has driven the car extensively (and not a bad driver either). He's also very experienced with the LT so we were able to discuss differences. I feel pretty confident the on track driving experience will be exceptional. But seriously it sounds like some people think or wish McLaren are going to take a step backward and it just aint happening.

    BTW, I don't have an F1.

    LOL, and who pays him?

Listen, until dozens of people have reported on driving the car, it's all speculation.

    Where are the track numbers?

    That's all...that's my only point.

This may be the holy grail of cars--I hope it is.

But until it's actually proven we are all just huffing and puffing.

    (PS - I have driven 675LT and it's sweet...no doubt).

Fair enough, I'll let you know I should be getting seat time in a few months. Journalist reviews should be out long before then. I don't pay a lot of attention to journalists but I understand a lot of people do.

    Sounds fair.

And I agree most 'journalists' can barely make it around the track.

Would welcome your thoughts after some track time.

I really do hope it's better than 675LT--if it is, I'll be in the Fall order block at my dealer (not interested in 'launch' cars).

You appear to be the only one who fits that description, and no - my earlier 'acrimony' comment wasn't directed at frefan.

    It's called humor...should try it :)

I really do look forward to real reviews.

Like I said if it's like 675LT or better...count me in.

IPO1 if I may comment about bruno. Yes I assume he's paid by McLaren. And so is Kenny Brack (indy 500 champion). There are others, ie JJ, a le mans champion. These guys have amazing talent and experience.

There is no doubt McLaren would like them to say nice things about the brand, I am not niave to that. However I've gotten to know them pretty well and I've physically driven in cars with them both as driver and passenger. McLaren have hired a flock of eagles if you will, not as sales staff but really product engineering. That is how they have come so far so fast. I would not just throw them under the bus per se as being paid shiffs. Its not like they're working for KIA selling you on their latest sedan. These guys also go to many pure McLaren track days and provide advice way beyond journalist level. Just throwing that out there its not as biased as it may seem. I don't mean to imply anything you said just saying these guys are top shelf and a very special treat.

Sorry to digress I'll leave it at that.

its next to impossible to get a meaningful test drive in an exotic before you buy it. maybe a short drive around the neighborhood if youre lucky. I never got to test any of the exotics I bought. certainly not at a track which is only place to find out how it really drives. im sure many owners will buy without knowing whether or not they like the way it drives. base decision on how it looks, the specs, the way previous models drove, media, etc

Of course--I get that. My point is where are 'professional drivers opinions/track videos/track times/etc'. Gessh...not rocket science. I know they are coming and I'm saying that's what I look forward to hearing. My god, is it that hard to understand? NO ONE HAS DRIVEN THIS CAR here. There...understand.

Right now all we have is flashy photos from Geneva--great. I always like to see how it performs on the track by pro's.

I never said anything about personally driving before buying LOL.

I've never driven one of my exotics before buying--but I also had a ton of data (which we are lacking) in order to make my decision.

Man you guys crack me up.

Still mulling that over. I've already specced one out and can't think of what I would possibly change, even if I had more flexible options.

Understand. The color options/rims are VERY limited on launch cars and other options are over done. I looked at price guide and as painful as it would be, waiting would be best IMHO (the customer spec cars are not getting built until Sept '17 as you know).

Are you limited in colors on the launch cars or pick anything from the configurator as long as it's one of the 3 specs?

Limited in colors (five colors) and those colors have only certain options attached to them. It's kinda confusing, but Luxury and Performance models, with limited colors (tied to each), including rims and only specific options.

Dealers will have more info published tomorrow as they are in Dallas today for training.

I'll post once my dealer sends--or maybe someone here has that to post already?

I have a problem with McLaren keep bringing out the dead to promote their machines. They need real people from today.

Maybe they are trying to build some kind of legacy but quoting dead owners 50 years ago and dead drivers 20 years ago -- both of whom died tragically while racing --doesn't do it for me.

Leave their legacies alone. Make your own.

Guys if this is how the 720 is going to sound in person it's the best sounding turbo I've ever heard. Did Mclaren spend massive amounts of time and attention tuning the sound because it seems so from this video?

Aside from Fiat this may be the worst configurator ever made. Completely confusing and slooooooooooooooooow.

As to launch car specs, those are not listed on the site--has to be obtained from dealer.

Don't know if that is 'enhanced' video editing or not, but it sounds nice either way for sure.

Love those promo videos. It looks good on track.

Found this on Instagram and it sounds the same...ohhhhh that's nice!

Actually, journalist already have. Reviews are due out next month. They've just been embargoed.

Of course it's better than a 675 LT. When has a new car ever, across any brand, been lower performance than the previous one? Doesn't happen.

That's would be amazing...and exciting quite frankly. I have driven 675LT and I love it.

I saw this as an evolution to 650s and the 720LT would be the same to 675LT.

If this beats LT all around, I'm going it find it hard not to buy one.

That D word I'm not allowed to bring up is my concern, but sometimes you have to say f it.

Same with ferrari. 458 faster than scud, 488 faster than speciale, and im sure 812 faster than tdf.

720 faster than 650lt. Successor to 720 will be faster than 720lt.

    Etc...
