+1...unfortunatly i think you'r right, the car will sell well anyway, the brand is strong enough to sell anything...wich is a shame for all those Ferraristi who love the brand for it's history and design...

Agree - but one really needs to strike a balance between styling and aero. If one compares the 720 to the 812 I don't find the design of the McLaren sits comfortably (notwithstanding how efficient it may be) and I am a huge fan of the P1 which I recall seeing in Geneva and felt was more elegant and better proportioned than the LaF.

There's something about those huge nostrils in front where one would expect lights but seems to be all about aero that don't work for me. I think the way they've managed the air on the sides is very clever and the silhouette of the car bears more than a passing resemblance to the F1. From above it's shaped like a soapbar.

I was not a big fan of the F12 (particularly the rear) and passed on it. I think the 812 is a good combination of elegance and aggression.

Surprisingly no one has commented on this. The weird lip at the bottom of the rear windscreen bothers me a lot as well and I can't make out what it's purpose is. Also won't this get water logged in the rain?

It's totally f'd, you can grab under the rear windscreen because of the way it's designed, or should I say "over designed".....and you have to be very careful choosing colours for this car because some colours, such as the the red on display hardly show the cars lines. I think it will be difficult to make this car elegant, I'm going to try my best though. However it can be done to be extremely aggressive without much effort......

I will use the same example as before.Remember when testarossa (1984) presented as a successor of berlineta boxer. It was a huge step forward. Compared to other cars of its era, BB included it was extremely innovative and futuristic in terms of design. Of course the reason for that was the problems that TR had to solve from BB. In other words the key element of that design was purpose and not styling.Today its aerodynamic that dictates a lot and that has a beauty of its own.

Strongly disagree with you. This is the FULFILMENT of LdM's philosophy. He decided to move away from PF. The more recent design proposals from PF got changed by Ferrari because LdM wanted ever higher aero, in line with Ferrari's racing heritage, which he rightly understood as a crucial element for customers past, present and future. Yet he wanted that without the use of external wings like Porsche, McLaren and Lamborghini use. In the end, he realised that this process could only ever be done in-house if he wanted it done most effectively. The investment they made in a factory wind tunnel, many years ago now, was a key part of this philosophy so it is not a new idea.

As for the forum suggesting that only those who have enough money to buy these cars (I.e. Most on this Forum) know and understand what makes a great Ferrari, that's not true and seems an arrogant conclusion. I had very strong opinions about design long before I could afford to be a customer, just like my son and daughters do now. We shouldn't be dismissive, especially when some of these people, who will soon have seen the car in the flesh, start claiming how beautiful it is. Because it is a beautiful design when you see it for real.

I saw the car along with many customers who have bought numerous Ferraris - they all ordered and liked the car. Better get a new theory.

The name across the dash is great (NOT) it's so long it goes half way across the passenger side dash. And the central air diffuser is plastic fence bang in the middle of the 2 GTC4L air con vents in the centre. The switches and knobs are all from GTC4L etc etc etc

I'm being super critical because I simply can't believe how bad they have totally f'd the rear of this car up, it looks like it belongs to another car....

And then to learn that the wait list is 3 years....????
