Has anyone heard of any issues with taking the car on the track?

I note it is a transverse, wet sump engine and there have been issues with this configuration in other cars.

Car is has been tracked heavily by users on the 4c forum. No complaints and highly reliable so far..

The first time I tried it was rather comical. But there is a method to it.

    Open the door
Put your left foot out and on the ground
Push yourself up by your right hand on the steering wheel helping you up.
Grab the air intake scoop with your left hand and lift yourself out.

If you do this properly you are semi-graceful. :)

I personally think the Mac 12c is harder because you don't have the scoop to grab onto and you have to hold your head down to clear the scissor door.

You should have them add this to the owners manual! 😊
I'm not sure I could get into a coupe....

What do you think, could you say a 4C is a modern day 246 Dino, in any way?

I drove a Coupe, 17/18, non-track suspension, race exhaust and a track-pack equipped Spider with 18/19 set up today. To me, the Coupe was a more enjoyable experience and I'm guessing I'll fit inside it with a helmet on. I thought I'd prefer the Spider. Not so.

Big difference in noise level. Limited difference in suspension. Choice of exhaust, for me, would not be the race exhaust. While acceptable in the Coupe with the windows up, it was (to me) too loud with the windows down and too loud all the time in the Spider.

All told a much more enjoyable experience than last time. Not quite sure why - perhaps because I drove the Coupe first and it seemed feasible.

Tracked by my wife, 2 days at Sebring (Full Track), no issues. Around 80 degrees and no overheating.

No oil starvation issues being reported under hard cornering?

Also, what have people done with alignment. Left it stock or...?

Left it stock. However, I am running spacers so the wheels sit almost flush with the outside of the fender. Those guys who complain about the car's steering should have thought about that before buying a car with no power steering. The biggest problem as far as tracking goes is the Pirelli tires. They are crap on this car as far as straight line. They cause trammeling at and crack or ridge in the road. I switched to Michelin tires and it got rid of that completely. I have no problem driving my car with one hand all over town.
Alfaworks in the UK, offers suspension brackets to help change the caster and camber of the car to make it easier. A lot of guys are running them and swear by them. Having tracked the car a lot, I can tell you it's pretty damn good for a stock setup.
There are a few guys running coil overs as well, but that open's you up to a handful of adjustments after that.

    Tom,
I read the conflict on the 4c forum among the tuners. Were you ever able to get the drag race organized (I assume not) but wanted to check.

    Thanks for the well wishes.

To me, the revelation about this car is two-fold. First, there's little weight. This is not "news" but I was reminded of this driving home yesterday. Low weight provides a different driving experience. Nimble and agile, it's why I loved my Miata so much 20+ years ago. Second is the seating position. I don't know where your feet reside versus the steering rack (hopefully not akin to Brian Redman's comments about the Targo Florio Porsches years ago) but to me it feels like the front axle is "right there" and not in front of you. This and the manual rack produce a sense of immediacy and control that's a thing of beauty.

Bottom line, the drive home from the dealership, rides to various family members created a marvellous "first date" with the car that I hope just gets better and better with more acquaintanceship.

Now I'll stop eulogizing and start driving the thing.

Congrats. Where are you planning on tracking? Will be at Road America, Grattan, and Gingerman locally. There is also an Alfa / Ferrari drive in Petoskey coming up.

    Congrats!

Nice options too! (Spider headlight, carbon mirror caps, carbon bootlid spoiler?)

Do you have already the paint protection film? Otherwise, that would be my first job :)

I've heard that dealers are having a hard time selling the 4C, though I don't know if there is any truth to that. How much of a discount are they giving on them? I'm really interested in driving one.
