I'm the other way around actually, I feel that the front engined cars should be simple and elegant, more of a gentleman's cruiser while the mid engined cars should be more aggressive and race car like. So I say leave the vents and the crazy aero for the mid engined cars and the front engined specials.

Yeah But these cars are so powerful you need Aero to help stabilize at high speeds - Without it would be plain dangerous IMO

Though I very seldom post, I have been a member of FerrariChat for nearly 14 years. I'm on the site almost every day to keep in touch, through reading, with those who share my passion for all things Ferrari. With that said, I'll make a few observations which I believe are soundly based on history, as seen through posts on this site. First, if you come to FerrariChat in hopes of finding a bunch of Kool-aid drinkers, believing Ferrari can do no wrong, you've come to the wrong place. Though there are those who maintain that perspective on the site, I would say the majority of FerrariChat members are the most critical Ferrari fans with whom I've ever been associated. This, I believe is based on some idea that we as Ferrari lovers have some better understanding of what a Ferrari should be than Ferrari itself. As absurd as it sounds, that sentiment can be identified in countless posts. I'm not faulting that belief, as I sometimes suffer it, too, but it is based on, as a previous poster noted, a romantic notion of Ferrari past. As to the 812, the negative comments (some not undeserved, I'm sure) are no different than all of the negative comments on FerrariChat about virtually EVERY new Ferrari that has appeared in the past 14 years. The 360 was out at that point, but so many hated its nose, referring to it as a platypus. When the 599 was introduced, this site went ablaze with disdain for the factory photos, hating the pentagram wheels, its rear end, its funky front bumper, its overall size, and its name, which people thought sounded like the price of some cheap product at a discount store. There's no point in discussing the negativity toward the too-long, oddly styled 612, as it was described at the time. Then comes the 458. Pages of posters disgusted by its gaping mouth and weird whisker spoilers. And no one could quite figure out if they liked the 3 exhaust pipes in the center - something TOTALLY not Ferrari. Oh, I failed to mention the single tail lights that were now a new Ferrari staple, having appeared on the 599 as well. People were infuriated by this. How could Ferrari step away from the double-light (quad) format? What idiots they must be?! Anyway, to continue, the California arrives on the scene, and it is lambasted for being too busy, too feminine, and too cheap. Why even bother talking about FerrariChat's initial opinion of the FF. Ferrari designers might as well have been headed by the antichrist at that point. Now, the 488 has garish gashes on its side, the LaFerrari is stupidly named and looks overly technical and not elegant, and this poor 812 is suffering all that you've read in the past 50 something pages of posts. Yes, this is FerrariChat, not FerrariHate, but for those who want to find universal support for Ferrari's every move, you won't find it here. But let me promise you what you will find: Stick around for a couple of years, and like EVERY car I mentioned above, the criticism on FerrariChat will have softened, their designs will have somehow become the new, accepted beautiful and genius, and the new kid on the block will be the one subject to all the scrutiny, hand-wringing, and thoughts of Ferrari's questionable design strategy, while all will reminisce about how great things were when the car we disliked 10 years ago was introduced. Trust me. This happens EVERY time.

Yes I get that on exterior parts that are visible so other area I am considerering is is front grille surround.
I will not put it in interior apart from steering wheel which I will leather wrap.
I have gone full circle on active aero flap on rear which I actually think will be better body coloured rather than black carbon fibre.

Several people say that 812 Superfast in the flesh is much more beautiful and muscular than how came out from the official pics. It hasn't convinced many people before see it in the flesh. Personally I liked it from the beginning, but today, after a few days away, convince me fully. This probably even after hearing Manzoni who explained many stylistic choices

I really didn't know he admired the Sydney Opera House - interesting factoid. It's just that the overlapping of the upper part of the rear fender "shell" just reminded me of the opera house.

Gosh, anyone who thinks the 812's design is "off" how about the McLaren? Talk about a design mess! Some hard edges, some soft. Lines going everywhere, nothing lining up. And those headlights? Look like something from a 70's kit car.

Sorry, McLaren design can't seem to figure out what the heck its doing. At least Ferrari has a direction (aggressiveness and sculpted surfaces) and and they are executing on it. McLaren? I have no idea what they are trying to accomplish with their design. Just a bunch of stuff thrown up against the wall.

I was at Geneva today. I wrote a report on my iPhone but somehow managed to delete it. I will try again over the weekend if I have some time. Needless to say the 812 is MUCH better in the flesh are more cohesive.
I had a quick play on the configuration and took some screen shots. Excuse the quality as there was strong light reflection but they show the other wheel options.

First two are the standard wheel, next two are tdf style, black and silver. There was no diamond cut option for either wheel on the configurator.
