Hope it goes REAL steep......I'd buy a used one with 100 miles on it, and save $150,000. :)

    Cars:

    2013 Ferrari 458 Spider
    2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cab

    Only 2 that I drive.

Will be a while as customer spec cars won't be hitting until end of 2017 and Spider is not coming until 2020. So will be 2-3 years to see any real movement.

They will pump out the spider and variants well before 2020.

Probably, but 720s is 2018 model, so maybe a late 2019 model. So not far fetched, but who cares :)

Ferrari pumps put their variants as well...488 GTB, 488 Spider, 488 Speciale, 488 Speciale Spider, 488 Speciale A...etc...it's the car biz.

I've owned many Ferrari's and still own a couple. I just bought a 570GT and absolutely love the car. The fit and finish is fantastic compared to some of the paint jobs I've had on my Fcars. I do not think the 720S will have the same depreciation as the 650, you can see the 570S and GT are holding just fine. BTW we all lose money on cars unless they are the very special ones that somehow I have never been able to get my hands on...

The 720s will beat the GTB in every measurable metric. The style will be the personal question mark and the old issue of throttle response is now gone. Body control and computer systems is two generations ahead of what Ferrari is running now even in the 812. The Redesigned cockpit brings the car well into the Ferrari design standard and as any new generation should, places the 720 a step ahead.

The Ferrari fans will always say that it's still not a Ferrari and that will leave a stumbling block to get over. At the end of the day it will come down to the emotion provided by the car. For me, it may not be a surprise here, the 720 will be in the garage and the 488 has already been sold. The 720 still isn't a replacement for the Speciale however;-)

If you like driving around in something from an 80's Japanese Graphic novel, pick the Mac. :)

I'm not sure why, but I like the name of the car.

I think the 720 looks outstanding inside and out, but respectfully, based on what do you say this?

    From Autocar:

"All 400 units of the Launch Edition version have already been sold. McLaren expects to sell 1200 720S models this year including the 400 Launch Edition version and 1500 units from next year."
    http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motor-shows-geneva-motor-show/212mph-mclaren-720s-officially-revealed

Can the market handle 1500 $300K+ units next year?

I sense there could be some pricing/depreciation challenges. Let's see.

Will also be interesting how 488 market turns in the next 12 months.

    Fun times :)

Anyone know McLaren US dealership expansion roadmap? To me, that's a blocker at the moment.

See...400 launch edition, 1,500 to follow, then the spider in 2020, may be another LT, then LT spider thereafter, followed by an '830s' replacement in 2022. That's exactly the path of the first gen-super series have gone, and horrific depreciation ensues. Given some 80% of sales of the super series are spiders, many will wait for the 720s spiders because everyone knows McLaren is not the kind of car you can flip without a $100K damage the first year. I think there will be many 720s coupes within 18 months in the used market when the spiders are available. They will be around $230K, just like the 2016 650s now.

I am already seeing the 488 going below MSRP's now in the used market.

I got an email that there is a dealer opening up soon in Vegas. No time line though. So, there must be some kind of expansion going on.

    I never heard of them.

The problem in Vegas is you have to ship the car back to Newport Beach for everything. One guy I know said it was more in Newport than LV. He had a 12c spider.

The final straw was they took the car off the truck in Newport and the driver left the door open. It caught on the top of the truck and ripped the door clean off. The dealer bought back the car and he said it was his happiest day ever. :)

I'm with ^^. I now own two "last of the NA cars" and they make me thrilled every time I drive them. So many complain that we treat these cars like objects instead of using them, which should be why we buy them. Life it too short to not enjoy the visceral thrill of whatever floats your boat. Driving these cars to the maximum is out of the question on roads anyway. If you want a race car... then buy a purpose built race car. But at some point, it's all words and no action (i.e. driving experience).

Spent some time watching some of the videos of the 720. Have to admit, the car looks much much nicer in the videos. The eye socket headlights once you see them up close make a lot of sense.

Starting to warm up to this car. Especially in the white.

    This.

We got $75k off a new 650s but still lost $65k selling it after just 3k miles.
    Never again with Mc.
