I have 1991 Ferrari 348. Both of my power windows stopped working. Initially I had problem with the passenger's side working then it completely stopped operating. Now I have the same problem with my Driver's side. Any idea why both stopped working?

Check the harness connection between the door and the door jamb. Pull back the rubber accordion boot, and I'll bet you see broken wires...

Are you familiar with the "twist connector" in the wiring harness at the drivers door jamb? At some point most 348's seem to have a problem there, where the wires attach to the back of the pins, or where the male and female pins lose electrical contact with each other.

For a quick check, find the connector and pull back the rubber boot. You'll see something like 17 wires in there. Are they all firmly attached to their pins?

There are good threads on this subject in the archives. Good luck!

Edit: Like Daniel says, he knows!

There are some good threads on this in the 348 section. I recently posted the pin configuration from when I changed some of the pins in my '91. Some people drill out the connector and just solder in extension wires between the door and chassis harnesses but I prefer extending the wires in the doors and re-pinning the connectors for original looks and functionality. The root cause seems to be that the wires in the doors are too short, which places excessive strain on the wires where they meet the connectors.

Good luck in your repair. It's pretty easy if you have the right crimper and terminals.

Thank you all for your messages. I pulled the boot back at the driver side and discovered two broken wires right of the connectors (Yellow and Green). I am assuming that the pin connector would pop out of the harness connector so I can solder it back?

Feel free to try but it's probably a waste of your time. It's very difficult to reconnect the pins and it is certain that there are a few more wires that are ready to break off soon. It was a poor design. Replacing the door harness with a new part isn't a good choice either as it's ridiculously expensive.

No, you'll need to buy new pins, removal/insertion, and crimp tools. Not terribly expensive but needed to do the job correctly.
