That's the car in this thread which contains a video: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/547132-demuro-f355.html Haha - I read that false statement all the time Leather has a fair amount of nicks and scrapes too.
I've never seen a mirror control surround that bad. It looks like it's actually disintegrating. This is something that's cheap and easy to fix. Order the part from Ricambi and install it in 10 minutes. That tells me the previous owner just didn't care. In the Demuro video it appears that the engine bay cover won't stay up. He never lets go of it while it's open. Another cheap easy fix. Why would someone own this car and not fix that? https://www.ricambiamerica.com/car-diagrams/ferrari/v6-v8/355-group/f355-m5-2-1996/tunnel-framework-and-accessories/64483000-mirror-switch-face-plate.html $60, a screwdriver, and a few minutes. To me this is just laziness on the part of the dealer too.
To give the dealer the benefit of doubt, the car could be on consignment and the owner is choosing to not invest in any service. Some dealers, however, barely wash the car in preparation for a sale.
Thanks for the replies so far - I did notice the mirror surround looked pretty bad, but glad that's an easy/cheap fix. Thanks for the Ricambi link. I spoke with the dealer by phone and it sounds like they debated whether to have the major service done & the other issues fixed when they first got it in a couple months ago vs. having it fresh and turn-key ready for the spring, when it's more likely to get sold. So if I were to move forward I would probably want to make sure we agree on the work that gets done. This dealer has got some pretty sterling reviews online, so I'm more likely to take them at their word as opposed to buying from a shady place on eBay like Bob's Supercarz.
By the way, Dave, your site looks awesome. If I end up with a 355 that needs refinishing, I'll be sure to send the parts your way.
JEKGEK, I'm a believer in buying a car that needs an 'engine out'. There is a lot of stuff that needs to be looked at, attended to, or changed in addition to belts. The shop I use has a set price of $8+K for the basics. I figured it would be $12K, and missed that number by $30.05. I have no doubts that it was done right, and no corners were 'rounded'.
My 1996 355 is still available, my winning bidder backed out.....unbelievable why someone would bid and tell me " I did not think 70K would win the auction " ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/112323875829?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1561.l2649
eBay should make a bidder have money in their account that will be given to the seller as a deposit. If they don't have the money, they can't bid.
MrRdStr, wow. Some top-class people on eBay. Your car looks super-clean. I'm in the midwest so can't come to see it right away, but I'd certainly be interested in chatting by phone to learn more. Feel free to DM me your email or phone # and availability?
Buy that car at $70k over that other one. Spend the difference on a fresh major service and enjoy before spring arrives.
Had a flawless transaction selling my gated 360 to a real gentlemen in Texas ..... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I would support and recommend MrRdStr's vehicle. Based on my reading, research, pics and up front member here, it would be a sterling deal. Perform the service and enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If I was in your shoes I wouldn't even remotely consider that JM Legend car at that price. It's not pretty rich, it's extremely rich. MrRdStr's car has a lot less mileage and is priced significantly lower. Not to mention his is extremely clean and doesn't have that dirty engine bay and sticky buttons like JM Legend's. I've seen his car in person a few times and he wouldn't even let me get within 5 feet of it.
Yep, if interested in buy I would make AJ an offer. I'm sure he is open to negotiation. Would be good for both sides. Too bad I'm done buying Ferraris.
He did post that it was for sale in the adds section. Could expand on the description but I think it's just the market. Funny that the buyer reneged. There seemed to be just two guys bidding in the end. Neither actually wanted it? Just two guys pushing the bid? I remember I found my car on ebay. Waited until after the auction then made a low ball offer directly and the rest was history.
Why not take a chance and send it to barret jackson. Cats exotics seemed to do well on his 355. Booze probably helps alot but who cares. I know its a risk of losimg cash with no reserve.
