Yup, its not the cylinder count that matters so much. I prefer the na 4 in my elise to the tt v6 in gtr. Give me revs and high pitch noise please.

Btw, wonder how fgt motor will compare to gtr. Pretty close in specs.

Forget cylinder count. Can you image if you combined the low slung sexy lines of the FGT with sound like this? Instantly, it would have moved to top of the list of all time greatest supercars ever regardless of racing pedigree or total performance. And sound doesn't matter pfttt.

That is amazing sound but its also straight pipes without any emissions. Cant exist like that from manufacturers.

Either way its safe to say that you can fake it as much as possible but there is no way a turbo can be as tuneful as a NA or supercharged motor.

Turbo motors though can have their own unique aural delights, however most dont partialy because they try Mimick NA.

Funny how slow it looks compared to the sound, like the video has been slowed down.

    But yes a good sound.

The Ford monthly minutes report came out today and it looks as though two more GT's were produced in the entire month of March making it a total of 5 cars produced since December.
So to LeMan's , since the 250 cars were waived last year, its another year, is it waived again?
6 months to build 5 cars by June they should hit 9 or 10.
These cars were supposed to be rolling off the line last Oct at 20 per month.
    Just asking...

From what I hear they worked out the kinks and they will be coming out at a faster rate soon. Cars should be amazing. I think like many new radically designed cars, it just takes time. I am looking forward to them hitting the road!

Le Blanc saying the turbos never stop spooling, even off-throttle, does this thing have electrically spooled active turbos?

No. The anti-lag system works via fuel management and throttle position. Basically, when the driver is off the throttle it stays open just enough to allow sufficient air to pass to keep the turbos spinning.

Tnx, pretty cool. Can't wait to see how 488's successor will compare to this thing.

Did they record a time on the TG track or just a fluff piece?

I'm actually surprised by that, I might actually prefer having it do that in a "sport" mode but be a little more relaxed otherwise - having constant turbo pressure might make it feel twitchy? I guess everything is electronic anyway so it's not like a cable throttle with linear inputs.

People were wondering why the fuel economy was so bad for this car. I think this is the answer. With the turbos constantly spooling you will get far worse mileage than a car that can cruise out of boost.

just read the c&d review. they didn't drive themselves but were passengers with race driver at wheel. seems amazing in all respects but one. the engine. makes enough power and has good response but sound is lacking. car this special needs a bigger engine. and it only gets 14 mpg vs aventadors 12 mpg. who cares when its so low?

weird that the only 2 cars in the $500k range are flawed. aventador with its antiquated single clutch trans and fgt with the dull sounding v6. why not spend 1/2 $ for a 488 or 720 that has no flaws?

maybe fgt for investment potential but I would take either fer or mac if $ taken out of equation

Come back to this post in 2020 and see if I'm right:

The current FGT will trade hands below MSRP before production ends.

No one is going to credibly argue that a six cylinder sounds better than an eight cylinder, but the reasons for using the V6 are now well known. It's a really awesome race engine, proven not only in DP, but now also in GTLM and GTE Pro. The street car engine is the race car engine.

There are a bunch of people, me included, who have little to no interest in other supercars, so the comparison, whether price or otherwise, with other cars doesn't mean anything. If I wasn't getting a new Ford GT, I would not be looking to spend my money anywhere else.

When I heard it was to be a V-6 Turbo with paddle shifters my initial reaction was WTF??
As an '06 FGT owner since new I felt it had to be a V-8 with a manual gearbox or it wasn't a FGT. After seeing the car in person at the NY Auto Show and watching it race in IMSA I've changed my tune. It's going to be a cool car.

yes, of course its going to be cool. how can a 500k sports car not be cool? but is it 50% cooler than a 720s or 488 or performante? I don't think so as of now

720 is a street car, fgt is a race car that's street legal.
720 weighs under 3000 lbs somecsay under 2900
    Fgt is 3250.
Fgt has race winning cachet and very unique purposeful styling.
720 we'll let's see what the lt version is like.
Fgt is inobtanium, 720 is but a big check away.
Fgt will probably be better on track, 720 faster.

In the end the fgt will be a keeper for many reasons Its primarily because it's both a race winner and a street car, this and low prod numbers puts it into Gt40 f40 and Macca f1 desire territory. Whereas the 720 will be a cool depreciating car superseded by a better one.

As a car to buy and drive the snot out of the 720 is the way to go. As a car to keep for years or decades the fgt is the first modern in a while that IMO is truly collectable/classic unlike say a 599 gto which is a manufactured branded instant classic.

If you gave me the keys to both and said I could do 10 laps in one or the other but not both I would pick the fgt as the more unique un repeatable
    Experience.

Too bad ford didn't figure out how to produce these in series like the previous fgt, at 250k in 17. Dollars with sufficient production. it would be really really interesting.

As an owner of multiple 2005 and 2006 GTs I can tell you I have absolutely no interest in the 2017 NGT. Just because you have enough money to buy anything it does not mean you should. For all the overweight, old age wannabe racers go buy a Miata first, track it and see how you can survive the sport.

Beauty will always be subjective and DNA will always be definitive. The 2017 GT may have been built as a race car but I guarantee you it will never be a comfortable street car.

Who does not want to be in a gorgeous cockpit? Who does not want to be in a car that sounds like a roaring lion?

Who wants to enjoy the hobby while making up excuses for why the V6 was selected, and better etc. and why it sounds horrendous and how many races someone else that drove an entirely different car and won a race while you imagine you are on the podium with your gut hanging out? Seriously!

I find it funny that the people defending this car are from another forum. What are you defending exactly? Your honor? You all sound like Jerry Springer defending his lifestyle. Hilarious!

No, I don't think the NFGT is 50% cooler than a 720s or 488. I think it's 200% cooler. The point is that we are not comparing minivan stats looking for a "best buy." These are highly subjective, discretionary purchases that, in my view, should be based on a strong enthusiasm for whatever car excites the buyer.

Is a 488 200% cooler than a well equipped ZO6? Not to the guy who loves Corvettes. Is the Ferrari owner right and the Corvette owner wrong?
