The real stat will be the sales figures. Presumably Ferrari will sell more 812's than F12's and in the end it will probably be the most successful V12 model in the company's history.

As far as performance, it's a pretty safe bet this car will exceed the F12 in raw numbers and driving enjoyment. :)

Customers must share some of the blame for the options frenzy.

TM only exists to meet the whims and demands of neurotic buyers.

"I want carbon fiber but not just the run of the mill stufff. Glossy is so old fashioned. Anyone can get that."

    How about matte, Sir?

"No thank you! That's been done to death with the TDF!"

    Very true, Sir.

"I might do red CF to match the paint, Or blue CF to match the interior leather-- which by the way isn't that the hideous excuse for leather regular owners have to settle for, I wouldnt let my dog sit on those seats!"

As has been famously noted, "There are three types of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics!" In a previous post, I described how sentiment for the 812 will very likely change to the positive, as similarly witnessed in FerrariChat's prior, initially negative reactions to new releases, which turned positive in time. Again, the point being, wait a couple of years and reevaluate your data points for the 812. I guarantee you it will look nothing like the trend line you're plotting from the comments that have been seen to date!

Yes, in a couple years the car would have hit the street for a while and the backlog will be huge and owners will be very giddy. One year old very well optioned cars will be going for $50K-75K or more over sticker. Prior model owners will ponder trading up (if not already done so) and rumors of LEs will start to flow. This is the standard pattern.

Would be interesting to push the sampling period out to when the replacement is close and see if folks will still be trying to jam in orders of the outgoing model as we saw this time around. Not a perfect comparison as it will be a new model versus mid-model refresh but would be a better trend indicator.

The 812 is a great car as its the F12-based Ferrari flagship with that glorious NA V12 and 788hp and all the new tech goodies. Styling is subjective and many will come around for various reasons. Just didn't expect to hear complaints on the easy stuff like quality. After all, we're talking about a car that could near $450K US all in.

Yep, like cycling - forget the bikes weight, just lose 1-2kg and you are good-to-go!

I still don't understand why Ferrari did not focus on improving the interior on the base spec and raised the list price by another 10-15k? The current demand with long waiting lists would allow for it. Those wanting "customized" CF would still do it. I'd rather pay 10k extra for the car with outstanding interior...

Good point too. I'd imagine cost/profit issues. As someone mentioned earlier, it's the old Porsche hustle. Sort of a shame to see Ferrari follow that road. Sometimes paper-chasing has a limit. They'd be better off just selling 500 more cars imo.

Honestly, if Ferrari would make a V-12 convertible, in volume, all their profit concerns would vanish.

JLR is mobbed, but you can be sure if you are told a Velar will arrive on 14 July its there on 14 July, its cultural. Ferrari regards it as unimportant compared to the big stuff like engines. Patek runs a similar model.

That photoshop is about the most beautiful Ferrari in their entire history.
I would love to have the money to walk into Ferrari with those two pictures and say, "make it for me." Or do it with an F12.

The thing about the 812 launch is how many times have the Tifosi not liked the design of the car in their very carefully chosen launch color? Seems odd to me.

I also think of the 550 vs 575. IMO the 550 is a more beautiful timeless design, even though the proportions are only a subtle variation. Also, with the manual the 550 will remain a more desired car for many years. Just because the 575 is a modificato refresh doesn't mean time will prove it better.
    I will keep my F12.

I'll wait to see the 812 in person, and drive one before any orders.
My F12, I made up my mind to order one without ever having ever sat in one.

I saw the car at Geneva, and it looks much better than I thought. The front has a real aggresive presence. Aat the same time, there is neat "closing" of the lines. The headlights do not have the "eyeliner" look I got the impression of from photos, concering the slim extension of their lower section. The rear is much more tidy and compact than I got the impression from on pictures. It's still a messy design, but has warmed to me much more than I thought, even more so than F12 initially did. The car came across as overall smaller and more compact in its profile.

The things that are not so good: The interior. The leather is the same feel as Lusso, i.e. hard and vinyl-like. I don't quite get the square center section of the dashboard, seems like wasted space. Such a step down from the 599 generation of cars, and in my opinion a noticeable difference even from F12.
