Well today it is me lounging around the house wearing the Luminox I picked up from you that day I was passing by and impulse shopped.

Just got another for the collection. I am drawn to complex mechanical watches. This is a later one with the self winding but all mechanical. Just serviced and working fine. Had to add some links to fit on my wrist though. The slight haze at the top is a built in anti glare coating that does not show up in person.

Nice piece. I've been lusting after one of those. I almost bought one in NYC this past December.

How do you guys control the sizes of your watch collections?
It's a bit easier with cars but with watches...there's always room for another.
I once naively thought I would stop at 12. That number has been surpassed and I can see 20-24 being a more reasonable target.
I'm told by a local AD that some guys have hundreds of watches...so I don't feel too bad.

    Control a collection? Who can?

A guy I know once said to me, "Why did you buy another one? You don't really need it do you?" My reply was, "Since when does need have anything to do with this?"

Having said that I think I have 13, maybe 15...guess I should go count.

Thanks. I've had it a while. It is indeed in really nice shape except for the chip in the bezel insert at the "50" mark and the small one to the right of the pearl..

when I get to "thirty-something" I try to purge and sell the ones I never wear. There is also a human nature problem at play here. I enjoy the research, hunt, and anticipation a lot more than the actual ownership of the watch. Like this French philosopher once said:
"The best thing about an affair is walking up the stairs to her flat". Or was it a philanderer, and not a philosopher?
    :)

i finally got mine, followed by the certificate from Patek. It had to be car-themed, of course. The nickname for the ref 2551 is disco volante on account of the saucer-shaped stepped case. I might sell it one day, since I am not a dress watch guy, but I am still in the honeymoon phase.
