Hi i am after a new set of lightweight wheels for my 348 ts. What's the best option, seeing the recent post it looks like f430 wheels are a straight bolt on, are they light? will these also give a wider track without spacers?

Hmmmmm... hard to find these days, but if you can track down a set of 348/355 challenge wheels, I think that would be best option on the weight front.

No idea how the market is right now, but a few years back one could find 360 "starfish" wheels on the cheap, maybe another option?

There's been a boon of Speedline challenge wheels recently across the forum and internet, typically selling in the $3.5-$4k range depending on finish/condition/tires. Speedline has also initiated contracted reproduction of the wheels, in forged aluminum rather than cast magnesium-aluminum alloy.

I just picked up a set of FISKE wheels (FM5), measured at 20.5 lbs each. I need to get shorter wheel bolts as well.

    Fr - 18 x 8.5

    Rr - 18 x 10.5

Very nice, Wade! I have a set of the FM5s myself, albeit for my former M Roadster that I need to reassemble and sell off, as the 5x120 bolt pattern is of no use to the 348. Excited to see some pics when they're fully mounted up.

I almost pulled the trigger on a set of those recently. I've always loved the FM5s.

I was thinking about gunmetal centers originally but they're looking good as is. Maybe paint them later.

Wade, which wheels weigh 20.2 lbs? Fronts or rears?

The mock-up looks great, although I really do like the gunmetal color for the centers

Oh, and in answer to the OP, IMO the "best" option is HRE because they're very strong and well made. Unfortunately, that is reflected in their price.

I weighed each one and they're all at 20.2, which surprised me considering the differences in width.

That may just mean they used the same blanks to roll the width another inch

Did you measure the thickness of the fr vs rr?

Makes sense about using the same blanks for all. Great point.

I don't have the correct caliper right now for measuring their thickness, but I always wanted one. ;)

Love Fikse wheels! Had a set for my 993. Don't know how well they hold up for street driving.
Did you have them made to spec?

Sorry. They were delivered here a few days ago.

See ebay ad above. Used, a bit dirty and covered with race rubber on the inside. They're in great shape, just need polishing after sitting in a garage attic for several years.

I'm surprised as well. I'm pretty sure there's a noticable weight difference between the fronts and rears of my Kinesis wheels in those some sizes. I need to reweigh them and get pics for someone before it gets too bloody hot.

    Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm not sure Fiske wheels are available in the uk. A lightweight challenge look a like wheel is probably best bet.
