The good ol' days. I wonder if kids would even get the reference now?

it's not just their lack of noise - it's their lack of speed and distance. They are SLOW !
Playing cards are a start though :D

Hahaha, make it exciting, make one of the cars use a counterfeit battery that could explode at any time, but don't tell them which car has it. Then we have at least one explosive ending to look forward too if you want to watch big scalectrix cars bore themselves around a track

I have the solution. Put one or two v8s in each of the cars connected to the throttle pedal but without connecting it to the wheels or they might go too fast and attract too many actual viewers.

Almost; no cigar. Too much weight, they'd hafta use at least three cars to make distance. 'On the right track tho'....'just have the cars play a sound recording of different engines. ;)

You're forgetting the Vroom II bicycle noise toy by Mattel. They advertised these things
during Saturday morning cartoons and everyone I knew wanted one.

There was a time I would have killed for one of these but then it was revealed
that the devises threw the balance of bikes off and kids were getting hurt.

    So much for that obsession.

I had one. And I can assure you it wasn't the toy engine that created balance problems. Their lack of "skills" was !!! I just wish they had made it in a triple cylinder!!
