just a quick little burnout in the 675LT for a reminder how much fun the power can be :D actually I ran out of road and could have kept it going. My Italia, pretty much nothing. For me a 300k exotic should lay a nice set of 11's even though its totally unnecessary other than, what do you call it, spine-tingling I think was the word ;)

Sounds like a pretty good photo challenge for someone with a 458 to me.....;)

I've owned modified cars that blow all these cars away. None of these cars are "spine-tingling" 0-60 or 1/4 mile in comparison. The thread has gotten fairly juvenile, IMO.

It isn't like any of these brands can't create a car that could scare people. The numbers game is a game for idiots. It's a game for the race track. It has no meaning for road cars, yet it's a metric so many people here are falling back on.

Obviously Ferrari, and all these companies can translate their race car metrics into road cars (and have). Why are people so focused on things that aren't realistic for the total road car experience? We need to beat someone at the light, so we can not get stuck behind them when lanes merge. We need to pass them quickly on the highway, when they aren't moving over (or squeeze between when more than one person is being douchy...). More than anything we need to enjoy what we drive!!!!

All these cars meet our everyday needs for an ego boost. I think Ferrari has been mature in how they handle the whole "metric"situation. It's mental masturbation for most exotic customers. It's also irresponsible for car companies to create cars that are too dangerous. Additionally, they deal with market facts of insurance, state laws, etc., that limit their ability to go too far with their relative versions of mass market cars (thus some companies lying about the numbers their cars will produce when tested).

Making the humanly imperceptible numbers between these cars seem gigantic is sort of laughable to me. Perhaps you feel differences in different areas of RPM and response in those ranges, but otherwise, it's sort of silly.

My favorite in these respects is the McLaren technology that was banned from F1. Yes, you can be faster and better than your competition as a cyborg, but what about you as a driver? I think that was a great stand to make by F1. This isn't just about cars. It's about drivers! The minute we lose sight that racing and driving is about drivers is the minute that racing becomes about Google cars. It's about the driver as well....

Educate yourself to be the best driver/racer. Try ALL and ANY car out there, and buy what YOU love! There are no absolutes in a world of relatives....

If I still had either 458 I'd lay down a longer track.
Our 650s could put it down too. But damn, boring car.

    458's rule.

Funny, I like all black interiors...I have a 675LTS and the car is a angry banshee...wonderful driving car. If 650S's are getting down to the $150k/$160k range, I might just buy one to play with on a near daily basis for a year. Will skip the 720S, but will get the 720S LTS again.

McLaren made incredible progress as a road car manufacturer over the last 5/6 years. They are certainly pushing the envelope and we as car lovers benefit.

Looking at Mclaren's F1 performance now, they'd need to make SUV. They can get the chassis and drive train from Landrover, engine from BMW or Mercedes, and interior from Audi.

I quite like the interior of the 650s but not surprised to see this listed so cheap. Likely the actual sell price will be lower than the ask.

I hope your Speciale ended up with someone who appreciates just how special it is :)

It went to a dealer and then broker and unsold for a while.
If I could fix that exhaust to my satisfaction I'd have another.

I was also "not satisfied" with the stock Speciale exhaust sound. Fortunately, 200 cell cats resolved the problem :) and icing on the cake was replacing the OEM silencers with Frequency Intelligence Ultimate Race exhaust. Louder and more aggressive, but still "civilized" when necessary.

I'm easily pleased. I even like the stock exhaust sound. Speciale will always be a wonderful car IMO.

Deadpool comparison is very amusing and apt. The interior of the 720 far LESS preferable to a 488 to me. But, the rear of the 720 and the rear three quarters are really good. Not only interesting but also attractive. Especially surprised at how the rear really looks after the original spy shots which were very underwhelming.

The front is only interesting, and not beautiful. At least it's interesting though. I think the 488 was instantly attractive, even beautiful, in a more masculine than 458 way. But as far as 'interesting' goes, the 812 and also the 720 are ahead of the 488 on that score. The 488 is fairly evolutionary, and no worse a car for that, compared with the all-new 720.

You do realize a 2014 F12 with 400 original miles are already going for 240k TODAY! The V12's are going to have immense downward pressure on the Mclaren prices as you can pick up a 350-400k F12 for less $$$.
