Ouch! This is a massive slap in the face to ferrari. Especially if RB beats them in F1. This was said by Palmer about the Valkyrie: "One of our competitors is quoted as saying 'Valkyrie is impossible' and they're right, it's impossible for them. What's interesting, basically because we're a small company, because we're agile, because Adrian is challenging all the time that we can make that car."

measured the SCG to do 6:45 from the nordschleife starting point to final corner in this video, possibly 6:47 if it were to do an actual lap. this was in qualifying which is usually when the fastest laps are set and given that this was on slicks and he was only slowed down noticably once during the lap then we can assume that the 6:20/6:30 claim were hot air. even if we do remove the part were he slowed down he would still have to slow down for the final turn anyway. given that the CS-model would use road tyres and slightly different aero we can assume a 7-10 second gap between them (though this may be an overestimate depending on tyre).

From my understanding, getting below 6:30 in a GT3 is rare. The recent AMG GT did an 8:14 or so which is around what...6:34 or so. This guy posted a 8:02 full lap / 6:22 N-ring. https://youtu.be/4JyFJ11_zMc

Plus, the guys basically comparing a GT3 car to a regular production huracan. Yeah, thats fair.

Maybe 10MPH was a bad pick. p1 could certainly use more juice down there. not just for silly lap times but also for driving experience. Weight is your enemy. 918 has the heaviest battery so anything lighter will have a big impact there.

Actually the P1's battery is a lot less powerful, yes it is running at a high voltage but it is also running at a much lower amperage. Power is Volt times Amps, so in the P1's case the power is only 535V, 245A, 131kW, while in the 918 it's 385V, 606A, 233kW.

But the cars are already old news, the battle has been won and lost, the more interesting question will be how McLaren arrange the battery and fuel tank in the BP23. Would they still put the heavy battery on top of the gas tank like they did with the P1 or will they put it as low as possible in the chassis. In a way they are stuck, they were quite adamant, or at least Mycroft/Lieven/LMFAO was, that the heavy battery on top is a design feature and it won't make a difference if it were lower closer to the ground. So if they move it lower then they will have to admit they made a mistake on the P1, or admit the P1's hybrid system was a hack job, to add hybrid to the 12C platform at the last minute.

The bp23 battery as I understand it is positioned differently as a result of the 3 seat configuration which the p1 doesn't have.

Once the new p1 battery is completed it weighs less than a tank of gas so I think their long term strategy is paying off.

In any case I think the balance, feel and performance is spot on so any improvents they make just makes great even greater so I'm not complaining.

Forgot to mention BP23 is not a track oriented car so I think your analogy/concern is off.

If you're in the market for a hyper fast GT I can't see beating the Chiron. It's unreal. Mclaren has its work cut out.

Nobody cares about beating anybody at that level. Quite the opposite actually.

Not sure I follow. I don't mean beating on a race track, I mean beating as a total package. Looks, performance, etc. You're saying at that level the market is so small that owners will just own both of those cars anyway?

Yeah, to some extent. Happens already with the Holy trinity a lot of folks have 2 or all 3 (and then some). But my point was more towards I won't buy X because Y is 1 second faster, nobody really does that. Choices are more about brand, exclusivity, personal style, access, roi, experience, etc. Unless you're filthy rich and just buy everything.

That 8:14 lap time was for Nurburgring 24hr configuration and 8:02 you showed was for VLN layout which is around 1km shorter. So two times cannot be compared.Lap record in 24hr is held by MP4-12c GT3 with a time of 8:10.9.
    Nürburgring - RacingCircuits.info
The lap record in VLN layout is around 7:58 done by R8 LMS Ultra. So 8:02 isn't exactly very fast. Also 8:02 isn't equal to 6:22 for that reason.Edit lap time in the video you showed should be from 1:39-8:14 which is 6:35 equivalent.

We won't know until he actually completes a lap and releases a time. I hate speculation over this type of crap.

Sorry for the info dump, but..what can I say.

Well, I guess I should probably cleanse or clarify what i was trying to say. Long story short, I was trying to say that its unfair that he's basically picking on the lambo. He had no problem with the 918 doing its lap, but a much lighter car, on better tires, with potential battery aero, can't do the time? Theres nearly a 400lb difference between the two. We can't even tell if the 918 had a seat in the passenger spot since that huge laptop is there; but it equally didn't have a roll cage since it was probably so stiff as-is. Lambo shows up without a seat and with a roll cage, and suddenly its all fake?

Even ragtimes said that he did a race with a Huracan and an LT spider, and the huracan was ahead for quite some time before the LTs caught up. Glikenhaus's car cost as much as a laf, is basically a GT3 car underneath, and he's loosing money on each one. Yeah, thats a fair match. Why dont we also compare the performante to an FXXK while we're at? I'm sure that'll prove the performante is fake.

Audi even said they did something similar on the nurburgring and came to the same conclusion.

One guy over at Mclife (oddly enough) basically said that the aero spreads the amount of pressure the tires receive, throughout the entire tire; all the way from the outside, to the inner portion of the tire.

    Audi's statement
Lamborghini: We did not cheat on Nurburgring record - Autoblog

Heres one guys report from his Aero fried: Lamborghini Huracán Performante - Page 21 - McLaren Life

Which equally confirms what Marco Mapelli said.

And here are the other guy's comments that i mentioned earlier from over at Mclife: Lamborghini Huracán Performante - Page 17 - McLaren Life

All of this, is the reason VAG is having in-fights about the system.

What's this have to do at all with anything we have discussed in the thread? Oh and btw, he's right about normal super cars. Have you seen what happens when a super cars a jump a 918 though. It makes little to no difference, annihilation follows within seconds. Now that the Chiron in here I'm assuming that will make matters even worse for "normal" super cars.

The post you're quoting is for the lambo links in my info dump. But i'm not talking about acceleration. Im specifically talking about how he's making san unfair comparison between his car and the performante. His car is basically a literal GT3 car. Let that sink in for a moment. He's comparing a GT3 car to a speciale or LT competitor. Its actually lighter and more powerful than the gt3 car.

Seriously, would you compare the AMG GT3 to the performante? Or how about the FXXK?
