Hello everyone, I just bought a 2000 euro f1 spider 360, with 7500 miles........ Had PPI done at Algar and checked out clean other than sticky buttons, and other minor 360 quirks. 13% clutch wear, needs major- last done in 2005

Paint was measured and is all original Yada Yada Yada.
Paid $57k which I think is good.

But when on the test drive, the gauge cluster was chiming. The tech thinks its a F1 issue?

Or Ive heard it is a clutch overheating warning? many needs an adjustment?

I have the f1 measurements printout but not sure how to read most of it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Hmmmm. A 2000 360 last major done in 2005??? If it only had 7500 miles, it's 17 years old and it hasn't had anything done since 2005, I would be VERY concerned that this car is a close relative to a barn find, sitting around neglected for 17 years during which many evil vapors arise.

My advice, FWIW, is that this car needs a lot more than a PPI. It needs a MAJOR service where many unpleasant things are likely to be found. The 1999-2000s had many issues that needed to be upgraded. You're probably in for a lot more money than you originally figured. Again, just my overvalued $00.02.

The car was last in for a clutch, flywheel and other things in 2012, was probably driven improperly to have the kind of pre mature wear. they checked the car over at that time and didn't notice anything. other than the major was due.

You definitely got it for a good price, but on the safe side I would be ready to put another 10-15k into it. Still a good deal though, even with that. Congrats.

Congrats and welcome to the board. My first thought is Variators. They were not covered by FNA for euro cars so they likely haven't been done. BUT they may have done them when they did the clutch.

Next get full fluids done. If you are using a good indi he will look at and find the issues that may be there. As for the panel chiming I suggest that they hook up the SD and see what is happening. There isn't enough info to even even venture a guess on that one.

This is just the entry price grasshopper. :)

Are there any lights on? You're probably going to have to plug it into an SD2 to find out what the car thinks is going wrong and why you're getting the gong. Expect to put some $$$$ into it.

When they had it hooked up to the scanner tool to read the clutch, there weren't any error codes. No lights on the dash.

They just said "possibly" an f1 issue, but this was just based on what they have seem before.

Might bring it into Norwood when It arrives in Dallas.

You don't get a chime without a light IIRC or a warning in the instrument cluster. When you get it and can dedicate time and a technician of your own to it, I suspect you'll have an answer. Impossible to make a diagnosis over the internet on secondhand info relayed from a test drive and no specifics.

If they got a chime and no indication, that could possibly have been an electrical gremlin.. who knows. At that price, expect an issue or two.. expect some $$$ will have to be thrown at it. I wouldn't be surprised at all if its F1 related. When you get it and do the major.. be ready for some things to be found.
