Bravo, Chris. What a great story! Let's get the 225 and 80 out on the road sometime this summer. John

That is a most amazing story! Fantastic that you got it back into the family. It has certainly been around the world. Makes for a great picnic table too.
Following a few pictures to show progress on #148 restoration. As usual, upon removal of different layers of paint we discovered some positive and some ugly things ... The two rear quarters of the chassis are still originals, with the welded fenders, but the car had at some point in time an accident like most. Now we have gone down to the metal and we can put the chassis back in its correct status. It is going to be a long journey ... and expensive. I am pretty sure I saw your 75 there #281, silver car opposite the pit area on the grass. Looked nice. There wouldn't be too many 75 models left in Australia.
Yes, I'm fortunate to own #281, I have some photos of it on page 240. From my understanding, the 6 cars that were delivered to Australia were, #16, Ice green, #80 Red, #85 Emerald Green, #222 Emerald Green, #272 and #281 Silver Metallic. I am aware that 016, 85 and of course 281 are still in Australia and 80 is in the UK. I am unaware about 222 and 272. If 85 sells it will most likely go off shore.
The photo was taken at a Porsche Club meeting in 1975 when it was only a couple of months old. The lady is my late step-mother (who did great picnics!). The photo was published in Motorsport with the caption "The most expensive picnic table in the world". Cheers! Chris.
I vaguely recall a film made in Australia in the 1970's that featured a silver 3.0. It stuck in my memory as it was the same as my Dad's '75 car c/n 225 (now mine - see history in a thread above). Does anyone remember the film and what it was called? It would be great to track it down and see it again. Looks like it must have been c/n 272 or 281 that would have been used. Chris.
The film you may be referring to is Freedom, filmed in South Australia in 1982. I don't believe it is a 75.
Just checked out a trailer on youtube and from the rear spoiler looks like it is a 3.3 turbo, not a 3.0.
Same chassis, the owner told me that work on the chassis alone will cross 1000 hrs. Very nice work done, the flairs are welded 'blind' as they are suposed to be. They only thing i wonder about are the 2 gas springs for the rear wing. I have one on my 75',but maybe they used 2 and sometimes only 1? Detail on the rear wing,2 serial nrs on inside middle bridge and one on metal frame. Image Unavailable, Please Login
