    Dear Fiatosca:

Did your family also own a 500 Superfast many years ago?

I remember a 500 Superfast that used to be owned by a family that lived off of Long Lake just west of Franklin Road many years ago.

Are you thinking of s/n 8817 SF owned by John Winter, Napoleon, Ohio?

    No.

There was a family that had the car over here the the Bloomfield Hills area that was a 500 Superfast.

I cannot recall the exact name of the street, but the street was on the south side of Long Lake road between Franklin and Middlebelt; I think Pine Tree Trail.

Guessing by the photo of fiatosca he and I are probably close in age; there were many great cars (Ferraris especially) that passed through the metro Detroit area during the 70s and 80s..

I am 52 years old and remember the car around 1975-1980...

Don't think the car was argento....but it could have changed color. It was maroon color at the time.

Not certain when he acquired it, possibly owned it through the 1970's. It was purchased in the early 80's by Ed Waterman of Motorcar Gallery. He could probably fill in the gaps.

I live not far from there but photos were taken from my childhood home near Youngstown, OH. We owned lots of Ferraris back in the 70s but never a Superfast, although a close family friend owned a 400SA.

And yes we are very close in age!

    Thanks Bob.

Makes sense. The photo of your childhood home is not the type of elevation found on homes on Pine Tree Trail, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

I live in West Bloomfield and graduated from WB High School so I know many of the Ferraris that passed through this area over the years.

Yes, I'd love to "trade" my Mondial for an S4 some day but I'd doubt I'd find any takers!!

Love the Integrales too.....would not mind an Evo in my garage too!!

Cool photo. I remember the ACME storage buildings all around his shop in Chicago full of mostly Italian sportscars. Amazing place. I think it's all highrises now.

    That must be the car.

    Thank you so much.

I was certain that what I saw was a 500 SF and burgundy.

    Many thanks.

I was rackin' my brain trying to figure out exactly where that picture was taken. By the time I was a city dweller, that neighborhood looked a lot different. It looks even more different now.

That's Ohio and Halsted, south west corner looking north east. About a block east of The Como Inn.

The photo is in the parking lot behind the original, little International Auto Ltd. showroom across the street east of the Como Inn.

Before my time. I spent my time in the city in the 90's. Actually looked at a loft for sale in the brick building across Halsted. Wound up buying one near Ada & Grand.
