I was there too. Paddle shifters are for sissies and all that. I'll give Ford credit for making the risky bet rather than the safe one. I'm a true believer now.
I am , have you heard the following 6 cylinder engines: 1. An Alfa Romeo GTV6, or even the one in my 156v6? In race trim, even better. 2. The Ferrari Dino v6? I imagine the 246 F1 race cars sounded awesome too. 3. The BMW 625 straight 6 in race form ... awesome sound. Yes some bent 8 engines sound great, but they are not the best sounding engine in the world for all. The best sounding engines of all time IMO are: 1. BRM v16 2. Ducati twin and v4 3. ... If I won a lot of money, I'd buy the new FGT over the last Ford GT, but not over an original and real GT40 of course Pete
At this point I may take the new FGT over just about anything if given the chance to choose. I think it's the best looking car currently being made. I think the performance is more than ever being usable on any public road. I think you'd get TONS of love and well wishes especially owning one in the States. Only car I'd possibly take over it is the Chiron, which looks better to me every time I see one.
I'm in for that wager too. There's more than 500 people in the world that will spend $500K even if it does sound like a 1987 Chevy Citation with a fouled plug. The Chiron looks better than the new FTG? You're in the minority as most FGT owners have no clue there was ever a GT40 to begin with. That is the most silly part of the entire exercise by the Ford selection process. We live in the age of fake news and clueless FGT selectees.
I never said that. I just said I'd possibly take one over anything else if I could. Something appealing about winning the game of top trumps no matter what shows up against you.
What shall we wager? Let's keep it fun. I agree, it's stunning to look at. However, looks aren't everything. When it comes to sports/exotics/hyper cars - people want amazing sound, not a '87 Chevy Citation with a fouled plug (thanks, Truth Teller). You read it in forum after forum...you see it in YouTube video after video...people respond to the sound these cars make. It's at least 50% of the emotional experience in such a car. It's why these design teams spend so much time and $ on trying to get it right. It's why there's an entire sub-industry dedicated to aftermarket exhausts. I think Ford have unofficially, officially stepped up to 1,000 units now - haven't they? In any case, won't matter. The crop of cars being planned between now and then - including a few already available - will make the FGT seem like yesterday's news. Soooo many choices.
Let me guess, the result of an unscientific poll. That is really an absurd statement. I've never met a Ford GT owner who didn't know what the GT40 was. On the other hand, I've met far too many people who made fools out of themselves on the Internet.
Schmee cant find his brain even if he was his own brain surgeon and he was selected to be in your selective circle. Your obsessive defense is intriguing.
Oops sorry, you're a selectee I see. You do realize they got it wrong right out if the gate yes? The steering wheel is on the wrong side to ever be considered a Ford GT doh!
The engine compartment is just barely wide enough accommodate the narrow 6 cylinder and therefore the turbo's were placed in the buttresses. This is why they stay spooled up so as to prevent turbo lag. Truth Teller, I've also never met a '05 or '6 owner that wasn't not only aware of the original "40" but also very aware of the Henry Vs Enzo story.
I'll be sure to tell my friend Marty that he was driving this faux GT40 from the wrong side in the late 1960s. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Rewriting history that the Old 2005/2006 GT is junk or the original GT40 were horrible is not the way to go to make the new car look better. The new corporate heads for the SMALL THREE have been doing this over the last 6 years or so..... New Mustang to old, New Camaro to old, even in the pickup truck world , recycled aluminium to real metal. Let the people decide, Just like the JAGUAR XJ220............
Your hubris is equally entertaining. You might be quite surprised at what I do and do not know. Keep drinking the Kool-Aid my friend. I do think in these modern times with technology advancing at the rate it is, what is a world beater today can just as easily by yesterday's news tomorrow.
+1 Have to agree 1000% with Sinovac. I have to call bs Joey. I know lots of current GT owners, many of whom are also alloted spots for new GTs. I havent heard any of them say anything negative like that. Not to mention, none of the guys i know are even planning on selling their 05-06 GTs to get the new one. Most of the cars are going to real enthusiasts.
Easy boys, I love you all. Mayor your learning The Godfather Gtjoey1314 Image Unavailable, Please Login
