I'm confused is this supposed to be an original baldwin motion car from day one or one created in the likeness of a B/M car?
NCRS document in the ad shows William Pape as selling dealer, and not Baldwin. Doesn't mean Motion didn't do the conversion, though didn't notice any receipts or Joel letter among the posted documents to confirm?
It's a beautiful car. I read it as it has the Motion body parts on the car and conversion was done later in the car's life. I've owned 5 real Baldwin Motion cars, so pretty knowledgeable about these. Down to just one now. The real value are cars sold new by Baldwin and modified pre-delivery by Motion Performance. The ones modified as used cars even if by Motion Performance don't have anywhere near the collectability.
will never forget the CARS magazine cover showing the Baldwin Motion Phase 3 1969 corvette was always my favorite (60s era muscle car)...
Larry was that the gold or the red 1969 Motion Corvette? Joel had all the bases covered with Ansen sprint wheels and Inglewood tires plus side pipes and a 1967 stinger hood scoop and a fastback window sort of like the 1967 Corvette to. OMG , Your making me cry! It was around 1970/1971 ish , we would get dressed and go to church at St. Agnes in Rockville Centre. We would have to drive down Sunrise Hwy past the Motion Performance shop. Imagine a kid like me looking out the window watching these SPACESHIPS called, Superbirds, Hurst Olds , Camaros and of course the Corvette all dropped of to be converted. It was a wonderful time. In 1978 I purchased with My Mom a 1969 olds cutlass with a rocket 350 and rally pac gages...all for 325 dollars, of course I would go to B+R for my performance parts as they sold the Motion books for each car and how to hop them up! Great , Great times... Thank you Joel Rosen! Hey where did the big round MOTION sign go....ill buy it! Of course we had to go to NUNLEYS to ride the electric Mercedes and corvettes back in the day! When America was at its best! GTJOEY1314 P.S That Camaro shot was taken on sunrise hwy as well.....
I grew up in Long Beach around that same time. Every weekend there were gymkhanas in lido beach. These vettes always showed up in force. Nothing left more impression on me than seeing these monsters roar through the coned courses. Indelible memories!
Freeport Raceway and Bridgehampton ....Did you start tearing up yet..... WELCOME TO DOWN TOWN SUNNY FREEPORT...Remember the announcer. Long Beach road was HOT ROD repair heaven, shops everywhere and that old vw bug is still up on those poles from about 40 years ago! GTJOEY1314
I poured over the Motion catalogue in 1971/72.Had a 66 Chevelle SS396 and I had the order form filled out for a 454 beast to drop in.They sold motors in various stages.I was hot for a tunnel ram and dual quads. Got stationed out of the country for my last tour and left the car with my younger brother. He was a great steward but the car was stolen and never seen again. Tore up the order form.Have a fine 66 SS now but I wish that I had saved the catalogue and order form. Mike
The Baldwin-Motion 1969 Camaro was also stolen when Joe Oldham had the car! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Don't remember mellow yellow, was it at nathans on Wednesday nights? Notice how we thought the higher the front nose the better, looks painful now! Crager s/s wheels with 60's on the back with sears rear air shocks were the norm all the ways through the early 1980's. Those tires looked huge back in the day. GTJOEY1314
I had the 54 merc at the time and would show up with the guys from the stray kats with that 32 coupe chopped hot rod. It was a great , great time, if you were my age or a little older and didn't have to go to Vietnam. Almost forgot s+k speed shop!
oh yeah the gold one ....thats the car ..then saw what I believe is that car at corvettes of Carlisle then at an auction at few years later....
I think I may have a real Motion/Silva Maco Shark. It is a big block 69 with an early Silva body, mount and brackets for a Hone-O-Drive, 4 speed, vertical Lucas grill lights, original slotted Ansens used by Motion, etc. Anyone know the process to verify? Image Unavailable, Please Login
You'd want a Joel Rosen letter to authenticate it, Steve. The addy I had for his site for this is ng, but you might track him down here ...? Welcome to MotionModels.com - Premier supplier of high quality display models.
