It would be awesome if someone with a lift could stitch together photos to show the entire undercarriage. I've tried it, but it is hopeless using jack stands.

Interesting. The GT4 frame looks quite similar to the GTS/GTB (from what I can tell with my nose 6" below the bottom of the car).

Would be nice to have a photo montage of the underside of a fully assembled car (GTS/GTB).

Interesting that someone has welded a box section into the rear channel cross-member, presumably for jacking purposes.

It was a Ferrari modification,my car is a 1977 Fibreglass and has this box section and, according to the service history was fitted at a later date to when it was first registered.
I still would not recommend using it as a jacking point though.

the back of the car weighs 1,600-1,700 lbs. There is no real reason not to use the reinforced box to jack the back of the car. I normally stick a 2x4 flat across it but I have jacked there many times to change my oil

That makes it even more interesting. Thank you for posting. :)

    My '74 GT4 doesn't have it.

I need to lift the front end of my 84 308GTS with my bridge jack but am very reluctant even with the diagram above. Looks like some monkeys have been a little off in the past when lifting my car..

It is more or less the same frame, but shortened (by four inches, I believe); please be reminded, as an example, that the first one of the 15 "Michelottos" competition 308 GTB was built on a shortened GT4 frame, and has a GT4 chassis number...

Continuity was a major principle at Ferrari during the sixties and seventies; Ferrari was not rich, and certainly would not build something from scratch if an existing part was available, or could be adapted.

For example, the 3 liter V8 engine is actually 2.926cm3, not close to the possible 2999 capacity (like, for instance, 2.993 for the Ford-Cosworth DFV) because it uses the same sleeves as the 4,4 V12. That V12 is called the "365" engine because each cylinder was of 365 cm3: take the same cylinders, but only 8 of them, and you have a 2.926cm3 V8.
And you can use the same pistons and same conrods too, so that simplifies the parts procurement.

that's interesting: I was always somewhat reluctant to use, so i never did, it but you say you did many times?

Make lifting the rear much easier.

I got the BL-3500. No issues lifting the 308. My only issues were with the release bars, and how much of the unit was already assembled. You have to have one person on either side of the car to allow it to come down, or modify them not to re-engage. Also, these are completely portable, and with they would have completely finished putting the connectors on. No a big deal, just a finishing detail.
