I'm relaxed about Vettel...wise old head on his shoulders. I think he was more irritated last year as he was desperate to get any result and it wasn't coming...when he had the smallest of chances and then getting held up again by backmarkers was massively frustrating for him.

    Agree.

Bottas right there too. If Ferrari can manage their tire wear they have an excellent shot just as in Melbourne.

Vettel admitted he "chickened" on the final corner of Q3 by braking early.

Yep...some people hailing Hamilton's lap (don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's bad!), but when you consider Bottas is less than 2 tenths down...on a driver who some claim is the GOAT, that surely means it was a great effort from him? ;)

In race trim think Ferrari will have the advantage again, especially with tyre usage, if plane lands on time should make the race 😀

Great quali battle! Ferrari looking great for a possible win come rain or shine. First corner will be crucial. Seb needs to be decisive but avoid getting hit by those behind.

Bottas is having a solid performance so far. I know its early still, but a possible contract renewal looks promising.

Cracking lap from hamilton. I must say I enjoy qualifying a lot more now the Ferrari and merc are even. Kimi isn't looking promising. Stoffel is no way near alonso which is disappointing, thought he would be closer given his resume.

My guess is vettel will win tomorrow. If my memory serves me correctly he did quite a lot of testing on those wet weather tyres and Hamilton has not even run a lap on them. The first he gets a feel for them will be tomorrow's race on the run down to turn 1 in pouring rain. Not an ideal scenario for your first test on the new wet tyre. Looking good for the Ferrari win :)

The two leading WDC winners at that. With any luck these two will be close all year with similar reliability. May have a great year on our hands with future legends in major manufacturers.

He is doing so much better than at Williams. Maybe some new found motivation

The bottom line is that Ferrari is strong for sure this year. It justifies that the Australian win it wasn't an isolated incident, luck or strategy.

Right now, it's a Ferrari/Merc battle, then everyone else. Development could obviously change things (I.e RBR could enter the fray) but being at the front end of the grid is the right place to start.

Ferrari vs Merc, Vettel vs Hamilton is what F1 should look like.

Happy to see a competition and not something utterly predictable. Well done to F1 so far minus the fact that passing is just not as easy now potentially. Corner 1 will matter the most and the weather potential as well.

Or the Mercedes is simlpy that good and you overrate Lewis ;)
Looks like once again he has a team mate he does not dominate (at least by now) and this is the fourth!!! Just saying.

Agreed. I was very bouyed by their speed today and a win tomorrow seems possible. Lewis wow what a lap that guy really puts the hammer down. Looking forward to tomorrow.

He was not even 2 tenth quicker than his team mate...may I ask what makes you so exciting about his lap?
Do not missunderstand me: he is obvously faster than his team mate and the Mercedes seems faster in qualy trim so the pole is well deserved but what in particular makes you say "what a lap"? It is not like he managed to get the McLaren on pole...

    I agree with you.

For me Alonso's 13th place today in that ***censored*** McL was "the lap of the day". Nando has lost none of his fighting spirit.
