Great video that I just found:

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXzO3xbXEWk[/ame]

Restoring a Miura is really a labour of love! No affiliation.
The man-hours involved in the process must be gigantic.

Was this really a 1965 design study that predated the Miura? It has Maserati rear lights.

It's not easily readable on the picture of the description panel.

    But it mentions :

    History :
    1965 : produced as a 911 coupe
1966-67 : 3 design studies by Aachen University
    1 - KlappPorsche
2 - Targa (this orange one, at Essen )
    3 - SportCoupe
1968 : finished (? not sure to be able to read correctly.. ) in Switzerland

And I think that the lime-green one here below is surely the design 1 - KlappPorsche :

The rear lights on this Porsche concept are the very same as on the original Bertone Miura Roadster Bruxelles 1968.
In its recent restoration (after its ZN75 years) back to its original glorious livery, the rear lights have been reproduced - close - but not 100% same as the original lenses.
(Despite this small detail, the job done by G.B. and his team remains incredible).

FYI, these rear light units came from a period FIAT car.
    (Fiat Dino Coupe 2000 Bertone).

The taillights on the Bora are similar, but different.

The ones on the Bora are also mounted on some Panteras and late Espadas.

Since this thread has swerved wildly-off-topic (!), please allow me to place it back on course with the beautiful Miura SV 5030, the subject of a full restoration by Lamborghini PoloStorico, now debuted @ Essen.

Apparently, it took about 2,000 hours work on body, engine and interior, using Lamborghini original spare parts throughout, in its correct color of Oro Metallizzato.

    Breathtaking.

When properly restored, these cars are taken to another level.

    Joe,

Where do you find off-topic posts in this Miura thread ?!

Don't you find any interest in this Miura-inspired Porsche Design Study ? and also when speaking of carry-over parts used on the Miura ?

    Not really :)

BTW, how can Porsche Design-Studie be Miura inspired when it is from 1965?

    See Post #15479.

My understanding is that the "donor" car was a standard 911 - produced in 1965.

    The 3 design studies being done later, in 1966 & 1967 .
Considering the multiple Miura styling details integrated in the design of their 2.0 targa study - my personal opinion is that it can only have been done after discovering the Miura in Geneva, for its first presentation to the public in march 1966...

Got it and thank you very respectfully for the explanation.

Yes, I agree there is a Miura link.

No, I have no interest in the Porsche Design Studie, it looks like a really bad mimic attempt of the Miura, the point of which is completely lost on me. To paraphrase the a certain late great automotive journalist "it has absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever", to me that is.

That said, I can see how it is interesting to some Miura aficionados, Im sorry I'm just not one of them.

Joe, have you had an opportunity to see a Polo Storico restore in the flesh? Be interested to hear your opinion.

I have to agree. It looks like how I may have drawn the Miura when I was 8.

I have never seen this image before today!

Apparently, this is Miguel Ángel Barrau (an Argentinian journalist I think?) trying out the 1965 Turin Salon Miura.

First post on this wonderful not to mention eye opening forum, here's a shot taken by a friend of mine a while back outside the Transport Museum in Coventry, Warwickshire... when he emailed it to me I nearly fell off my perch...!
