VBox's use a GPS signal for the speedo, they're well known for inaccuracy. It's just a pretty thing to have on the video screen.

Bowe was doing 1:28's, nothing slow about that.

I've found (in the past) that historic racing is pretty relaxed and gentlemanly, but the downside is that the rules can get bent if you're considered a pillar of the community.

Yes, I've learned there's no point getting frustrated, it takes a long, long time to "pay your dues".

Meanwhile, as we rolled out of pitlane for the last race on Sunday, I'm looking at the Ferrari and March in front of me and thinking "how lucky I am to be doing this" :)

seeing the two ERA's being driven in anger is alone worth the effort!

Not mentioned in the article was the ex Ronnie Petersen BMW 3-series works car, which I thought was amazing too.

edit: also Bob Jane's 409 Impala... the list goes on!

They're mad driving those cars without roll bars, that guy could have been upside down if his wheels had dug in to the soft grass, then he'd be history himself.

I don't think the brakes failed, looked more like he over-cooked it , when onto the grass and was a passenger after that

Actually, looking at it frame by frame he is screaming in on the wrong side of the track, turns toward the grass and then slides all the way to the fence ........ if the brakes did fail at that speed he didn't have much time to think but surely you'd try going into a lower gear and try a hero pass on the car in front ?

I think he pulled off a pretty heroic pass.

It's what happened after that that kind of ruined it...

Yes, but I also had buggered tyres, so that cancels it out!
