Mystery centering spacers. HELP!!!

    Fellas, just outing my car back together after and engine rebuild that's taken far too long. Life seems to get in the way sometimes. I was very good with labelling items, and utilizing many zip lock sandwich bags to keep things together and assist me in the re assembly. What I've just found in a small container on my bench are two centering spacers. They have a 10mm bore and are about 17.5mm in diameter. I honestly don't remember removing anything like this during disassembly. Could they be for the AC mounting? There is always the possibility they are from something other than my 308. Thanks for any help here.

    Has your airbox been taken apart? The rod that holds the airbox flap is held in place by 2 spherical nylon bushings that nest inside metal plates and grommets like this on the he inside and outside of airbox housing. These two look like the interior halves IIRC.

    If they got seriously worn down, could be the drop link silent bloc washers, but those have very angular machining. This pic is from Superformance's site. Concave on one side, and convex - but similarly angular - on the other.

    In the middle of the night it came to me, they're not from the 308 at all, they're off my Harley! Part of the highway light assembly I removed. Thanks to all you guys who chimed in with thoughts! I appreciate it. Now back to the re assembly. -Dave

    Thinking they are from the 308. The rear sway bar link where it mounts to the A arm, I looked at mine tonight since it is apart. The large end goes towards the link and the pointed end towards the A arm. They go in between the link and the A arm. If yours are not there then they are the parts for the 308.

    I've got highway/passing lamps on my Harley and I don't recall seeing anything like these. However, they look exactly the same as the washers/spacers on the anti-roll/sway bar though.

    Paul, thanks for your reply. Not sure what year or model of Harley you have, but mine is an old Shovelhead Electra Glide, and they in fact came off of it. They were on the lamp mount stud and had something to do with providing a means of aiming adjustment. Not sure if was OEM or not, but it seemed to work. Also, I've never removed my sway bars from my 308. Cheers, Dave.

    Hi Dave,

    My Harley is a 2001 FatBoy, so rather different to your Shovel'. I did wonder about lamp alignment, but I couldn't recall how it was done on mine, after all, I fitted the lamps 16 years ago. ;)
    I've only just reassembled the rear suspension on my GT4 and the sway bar spacers are uncannily similar to your Harley lamp spacers.
    A Harley dealership may be an unlikely alternative source for these odd-ball spacers if anyone needs a replacement. ;)

    Sorry Guys I don't have a Harley. But I do have a 85 308. I remove my sway bar assembly last week to clean it up and install all new rubber bushings. When trying to put it back together on Sunday there layed 2 of the same convex washers. I don't know where on the sway bar they go or which way there are to be turned but they came off my sway bar assembly. I know my car is 32 years old and someone else my have taken them off there Harley and put them my
    Ferrari at sometime. Harley may use them also.

    No. They are to provide clearance for rotational flex of the drop links (so the a-arm and the nut don't interfere with the rubber bush).

    The arm has the taper built in. The tapered washer goes on the other side of the drop link. Then the nut (maybe a washer then nut)

    I have four of them on my car, but oddly, I have odd lower A-arms. The sway bay mount on one side has the taper and the other has a square face.
    I'm guessing that the one with the taper is a later replacement for possibly a damaged original, which required the taper spacers on both sides of the rubber bush.

    They are not off the Ferrari.
