As we talk about favorite pictures... The fact that I am on a new roadtrip with my best buddy, makes for opportunities to make some great pictures. Sometimes, strange situations can make for cool pictures. We went from Nice in France on thursday to Monaco, Portofino, Santa Margherita Ligure (one superb location!!) to Firenze, via Maranello to Venezia. Then one night stay and today up to Lago di Garda (Desenzano del Garda) and now down to Bologna. A trip like this is just too good not to be taken. I share some pictures of the last days... Have been running economic speeds with a few bursts into supersonic, but we have had great time and no hurry. The 550 is going great as always with the exeption of the need for an A/C refill. It was 24 degrees C at the most, which is pretty hot for two icebears from the north pole...

Do you took the Via Aurelia through all the towns at the ligurian cost ?

Thanks Daniel. No, I think these are two different places.. The place I meant is just outside Rapollo a few minutes before Portofino. We went on the highway past "your" Liguria. Also a very cool and twisty road along the coast. It has a very fun combination of turns, in and out of tunnels, long straight away stretches etc., so the driver has constantly changing conditions. Very few speed cameras too. Italy in general has quite a lot. Last night we drive to Bologna in a heavy thunderstorm! It went from completely dark to "daylight" during the most intense lightnings. Quite spectacular. Who were the faster of us, I don't know, but we were luckily not hit... ��

 

Did a similar route in 2000 driving a 355F1 Cab with my wife (Milan, Como, Portofino, Monaco,
Cannes, St Tropez and back to Milan).
Santa Margherita will be long remembered for the shoe binge caused by my wife and problems with stashing all of them in already overloaded car.

Simply wonderful

 

Today was warm here. Last Friday was as well and only the second time I've really gotten to take the new car outside. Took a drive down to ASME at lunch, visited Steve's shop and really enjoyed the drive. Parked WAY BACK at the rear of the parking lot, still filled with the snow plow sand from the winter but away from anybody else. Couldn't resist a photo...still in the honeymoon glow....lol

Hi,

Yes, agree. Come to think about it, Ferrari should introduce a "mileage" programme, where you get some goodies if you do enough mileage on a certain Ferrari model, the cars get excercise as do the drivers, the general public gets to see more Ferraris on the streets, everybody wins!

I have driven mine 45.000kms. in four years. The more I run and maintain it, the better it gets. Now it is in for a timing belt service in Italy. Sad to leave it, but Luigi & Co will make it ready for the next four years. Hopefully now without overheating in heavy traffic with a radiator flush. Miles is good. The health of a human being is its health care multiplied with its exercise and burning of calories... A twenty year old V12 Ferrari is exactly te same. Every time I leave a car for a long time, there are some problems...

 

Believe me, if I lived in Los Angeles it'd be getting a lot more use.

It's been a long winter and still getting piss loads or rain. The 4-5 months of nice weather we get here the 550 and 355 are primary drivers.
