What's the world record for a Miura S?

I agree that much of the good stuff trades privately and away from the auction block, but there are exceptions.

Agreed, Auctions are a sport, high, part of the deal, beat your buddy, something to do ,as opposed to something else, for some people. The other categorie is the dealer looking foe whatever with a profit in the Horizon, 911,Countach bb, whatever, nothing wrong with that,
The rest of the crowd, probably would not be there, if the circus came to town.

    Something doesn't match, SE30 #1 was Brivio's modified car, not VIN RLA12020 but RLA12001!

    This is #1/150 in 2001:
    http://www.lambocars.com/images/diablo/all/diase57.html
    http://www.lambocars.com/images/diablo/all/diase62.html

    1994 Lamborghini Diablo SE30 #001/150
    Chassis #RLA12001
    Engine #

    SE30 #001 registered AA539RX.

Here are 2 pictures of the very first customer Diablo SE30. The car is owned by Mr. Brivio, an Italian known for his Lamborghini customizing. The car is pictured at Tonino Lamorghini's factory during the Murcielago introduction weekend in September 2001. Interesting badging reads "Brivio No. 1 Europa".

car for sale is Brivio car
    i think VIN RLA12020
nr. 20 car and nr. 1 car for Europe market

if you look at the alcantara on the tunnel, you can see where alcantara piece was put over Brivio personal mod

Do you have a photo that proofs Brivios car is RLA12001?
I have alot photos of "Brivios car" and i´m very sure it was always RLA12020.
Also i´m very sure that the car from the auction is Brivios car, note the alcantara "add ons" on the interior. This stuff should hide the modifications from Brivios. If you compare old photos with the auction photos you will notice it.
Funny thing is that the speedometer is turned. This car has much more kms than the speedo actually shows...

I don't have a proof whether it's RLA12001 or RLA12020, but what is for sure SE30 001/150 is not RLA12020, since the SE30 had own Vins, the ###/150 was reflected as the last three Digits of the VIN.
So either this is RLA12020 -> 020/150 or it's RLA12001 -> 001/150, as I mentioned something doesn't match and funny enough the auction Pictures do not Show the vin plate...

Brivio's car showed in 2001: vettura 01/150, Brivio #1 Europe, Picture can be found in glens registry and I have seen the same in Person.

The correct Vettura number should be 020/150, you´re right. But this unconsistencys on this car are known under SE30 specialists...

I saw this car personally, it was butchered by the original owner and brought back - sort of - to original specs - had issues when I saw it - rear bumpmer spaced 3 cm on one side, repaired holes for sterio wires in the CF, etc. It is number 20 and not 1

yes, I was referring to the SE30 you can probably find pictures of this car on other forms, or PM me if interested. The rear part had high exhausts over the bumper, inside, the interior had a panel full of holes, all kinds of yellow wiring and odd knobs and handles on the inside - hence those "covers" on the dash - some with the emblems, the current number one SE30 plaque is aftermarket - you would think that the car would have been better prepared for such a sale .....

the lp400 needs new seats. An alien must have used that one, and I am not talking about a mexican.
The gold in the QV is most lovely! I hope it is real gold. the 400 kms speedo is also a nice touch but to do a mod like that, I would have gone the full 500 kms/h to make it worth it and a milestone well planted number number.

LP400 - it has an non-original custom drivers seat, and the transmission tunnel is restored incorrectly and pleated in the style of a QV (I pointed this out a month or so ago elsewhere). The engine features incorrect LP400S components. Very elementary stuff, all of which tells me whomever restored the car either didn't know or didn't care - I'm not sure which is worse.

Countach QV - the claim that this car has a factory "Gold Package" is a false claim, as no such thing existed at point of production. I can't imagine anyone buying into the story that the gold features are original. I am made to understand by other sources that the work was done in Japan years ago.

Diablo SE30 - if what Alex is saying is so, this is not the first prominent Lamborghini that displays a post-production plaque making false claims about its production status. It's provenance as revealed versus how its offered is a bit confusing and not particularly inspiring.

What conclusions can we draw here?

The best cars rarely change hands via auction.
