Advice on F12

I confirmed the previous plate number registered in the name of Ferrary Spa and is no doubt my car. Thank you again for discovering these pictures of my F12B driving in Maranello close to the Ferrari factory I can assure you they mean a lot to me.

I'll colect my F12 tomorrow after being at my detailer for almost two weeks. They started by disassembling several parts of the car like the back lights, symbols, etc. and did a complete paint correction. Afterwards the car exterior was fully detailed and in picture nr.3 you can notice that the front right wheel isn't the original. Before leaving the car and to my despair I touched a curb edge and did a tiny scratch to the original wheel so it was taken off and repaired and retouched at another specialized shop. In order to be able to move the car around inside the detailer shop they had to borrow another wheel.

I ended up wrapping with Xpel the front and back bumpers including the carbon fiber front spoiler and back diffuser and fog lamp. On the sides were wrapped the fenders, the sill kicks, the shields and the doors up to the lower side of the aero-bridge channel. The head lights and the hood were also wrapped and the last pictures show the hood film application under way. The internal carbon fiber under door covers were also wrapped for protection of shoe scratches. To finalize a ceramic coating was applied over the external wrapped and painted surfaces.

After I have the car I'll make some pictures showing the final result.

We had a long weekend because today is an holiday and that was my very first long drive with the F12. Picked the car up at the detailer on Saturday morning with the paint correction and wrapping totally finished and had a boring drive south with my wife for 320 Km on a motorway respecting always the law speed limit.

Drove back today with sunny weather and the first 140 Km were done on a good motorway partially on a mountain area at a speed of around 200 km/hour. For the F12 this speed feels like nothing such is the confidence the car transmits in all departments. Exited the motorway and drove for 100 Km on country side roads shown on the pictures below, and what pleasure the direct direction adds to the driving experience since it enables to place the car in the tight curves with a milimetrical precision.

The final 160 Km were driven in the same motorway and this time with the Valentine V1 radar detector in place I was more enthusiastic, but not too much because my wife was inside the car. Drove during several minutes continuously at 250 Km/hour and the feeling is the same at 200 Km/hour or 250 Km/hour because the car transmits a kind of confidence that has to be felt in order to be understood. When there were cars overtaking on the left lane in front of us, as soon as they saw from faraway the F12 hood silhouette approaching from behind, they moved immediately away to the right, like behaving by a non written code of respect, and when we passed them they seem to be moving in slow motion such is the acceleration you can get almost instantaneously.

It was a wonderful experience and I look forward repeating it.

Justin, 400 miles will start giving you already a pretty good idea of what the F12 driving experience is like and I agree with you about how superbly is the tuning of the stability and balance on this car.

I have the Pirelli's P0 and despite of not having tried the manetino two last positions, with a dry warm road and with the manetino in race, the impression I get is that you can attack any curve in the limit with always with a fenomenal traction.

The bumpy road feature is very useful when I see through my right eye my wife's face expressing discomfort with the ride specially on uneven road surfaces. After I press this miraculous button her face returns immediately to the normal angelical looking.

 

I had the Michelin's in a previous Ferrari and they were night and day to the original Bridgestone's. The Pirelli's P0 at least in dry road and with a relatively warm temperature seem to grip extremely well but nonetheless I thank you for the advice because I presume you might have used them already and therefore can compare the difference overall in riding terms.

The Pirelli's P0 are almost brand new around 800 Km so I have to let them wear first but with that advice the next ones will be the Mitchelin's. I think the big opportunity to get rid of the present tires will come on the next 8th of July when our local club commemorates the 70th anniversary of Ferrari and we will have the Estoril racing circuit for exclusive use during a complete day.
