Lamborghinis at auction

I'm selling my 918 at Villa Erba, but keeping my LP400S!

Will be there to see the interest in Lamborghinis, and can report back.

Personally I have been very happy with RMSotheby so far - lots of publicity, PR, featured on auction website, paid ads in Evo and Octane, and they have a LaFerrari and a P1 GTR for a 'HyperCar trinity' feature which seems to be getting attention.

Happy to hear you are keeping the lp400. Love the blue on the 918, Drove one back to back with a La Ferrari last spring, amazing cars, again ,Love the fact you are keeping the Countach,

 

Very dissapointing,to say the least, when respected auction houses print false un verifiable crap like this, iow not even RM can be trusted in the auction world? Alway thought the big auction houses did a good fact check , i guess not.

 

the 400 Kmh was an original Diablo Jota equipment/option
and a pretty rare one item

not all Jotas had this speedo installed, once it was believed it was for only the Jota built IN factory

I understand your opinion and would possibly have agreed with you, probably the owner too, did he not send his car to Italy, to be certified by Polo Storico.
And actually they came with the info that they placed the gold plated parts when the car was new, they have said they will put this in writing.
The car will be coming with a certificate from Polo Storico and they will provide a book with all the work which they have done to it.

No Jota Kit was installed at factory. All "factory" kits were installed by Top Motors in Nonantola!

 

didn't the infamous gold/blue Haiti Countach have gold emblems and even gold coloured Leather too originally ? factory oem?

 

I disagree... few JOTA has been fitted with the kit IN or AT the factory... the last one for instance...

 

Maybe the first one or a prototype. Valentino himself told me that the Jota Kits were generally mounted by Top Motors.

Also Polo Storico mentioned to NO rear spoilers where official mounted by the factory, because of homologationrules then.

 

Thank you for this, I have heard the same claim from the owners.

I would love to see a verifiable copy of the car's original build sheet confirming this claim, until then I'm sticking with my position.

Its worth noting that the car exists in indisputably much-modified form, relative to its original build configuration.

Lovely to read the comments on that listing. The amount of real life stories regarding the impact of the Countach is just amazing.

 

Is there a verifiable difference from the placement of the vin on Euro QV to FI cars?

I keep seeing FI cars with the VINs outside of the rain guard area of the DD cars.

There was something off on the I.D. tag of the SE30 at auction. The lettering of "VETTURA"(vehicle) is imprinted in the metal plaque should be with a font slightly skewed to the right.

105/150 is an original script, compare it to 001/150.

You can also notice that the last letter of VETTURA does not align in the same place of the SE30 emblem.

It had a different tag before, they tried to restore the car to original specification. It is a bit remarkable how RM Sothebys advertises it as 001, you would expect better from such an auction house. 020, first production car delivered to Europe.

 

Hi all, I could not help myself to investigate more regarding this car and I the found following. The chassis number RLA12020 for sure is Number 001/150. Due to reason of privacy the fist designed placket was removed and a new placket was made because this car was going to auction and the first owner did not want his name all over internet. So the placket seen on the older pictures of RLA12020 was removed, but it is going to being remounted on the car when delivered to the new owner after auction. Btw, its obvious chassis number RLA12001 is not number 001/150, RLA12001 was finished and destined to Hong Kong 29/01/1996. In the beginning of the Diablo SE30 era they did not use the chassis number and production numbers to fit with the cars, it is obvious that in the beginning of a new model the first car in the production was the one getting to be No1. And from what I understand this is all controlled and documented.

 

It is all a matter of definition. With two cars carrying the 001 tag right now, should the car that was actually produced first be recognised as 001 or not. Should 002 not be considered 002 as it wasn't the second car produced? I think this might explain why Lamborghini added 'No1 in Europe' to the original tag.

 

I remember I had this picture somewhere. It shows the official opening ceremony of the SE production line (No '001') by Setiawan Djody, Tommy Suharto and (then president) Michael Kimberley in May 1994 (94 Yearbook, p.25). I am not certain if the car in this picture is indeed chassis 020, as the painted area around the mirror suggests a prototype. It would be interesting to know the production date of chassis 020.
