I believe you are correct as that was the information I found when looking for a 328 ....... the ABS 328s that ended up here were not Aussie delivered

    From Keith Bluemel's book

Are you smart enough to see you just contradicted yourself? Probably not.

It might have been, either way he shouldn't have tried to disconnect it.

So now that the glow of the 328 ABS orgasm has subsided do we return to discussing the 488 accident? To me there is a strong case for some sort of brake failure.

Just for the sake of accuracy, the car in question was personally imported but Australian-ordered.

The car in question was apparently the first RHD 328 GTS with ABS and was rebuilt after the crash.

I don't think so, going through it frame by frame, there's no sign of him spinning to that position. More likely he lost drive and let the car roll till the uphill slope stopped it, without thought for the consequences.

That's the problem when you have teenagers driving race cars, they don't think.

Part of every driver's briefing is "pull off the circuit".

This is from the autosport forums discussing the incident

    Eyewitness acount

"Just back from Donington and the crash was right in front of me. For a few laps before there was a light rain which made that part of the circuit a bit slippy and on that lap a few cars ran wide on exit of Old Hairpin but Patrik Pasma stayed on track but appeared to put his right rear wheel on the damp curb that is on the inside just up from the old bridge which spun him round almost on the spot. There was only about 2-4 seconds before the next group which included and un-sighted Billy Monger arrived. Hopefully that sheds a bit more light on what happened."

I stand corrected. What a tragedy for Billy Monger.

This should make good money, as it's very unusual to find a 90's car with correct engine - they were leased to teams and returned at the end of their life.

On the other hand, it's only eligible for the BOSS series (Big Open Sports Series) which is well supported in the US but much less so in Europe. Nothing to run it in in Aus.

can you speak to my wife with that argument? I know what would happen if I tried it :(

However, my longer term plan is to do a season of F1 Masters in Europe, for which only cars from the DFV period are eligible. Good cars sell for 300K pounds and I've yet to make the mental adjustment to that, compared to what the car I have now owes me.

That looks to be a great series, the chance to drive on some of those tracks, let alone in an F1 car, would be like nothing else (Spa and Barcelona especially, at least for me).

Would be an intense commitment to be running eight races in Europe though, even just the contestant fly in and fly out for the race weekends, but obviously you'll have a lot of choice with companies for preparation and transport of the car, so you would hope that it would get to the point of just arrive and drive.

But of course, I'll be willing to volunteer as your PA/support crew if you needed it ;)

all the races take place over a 3 month period, so it's just an extended holiday. I know lots of Formula Junior guys who've done it. Rent a campervan to tow the race car trailer and away you go, just like the F1 teams did it back in the day.

I think we should make it an official GG event, you guys can come and hang sh*t on my driving :)
