Seeing some photos of those failed, or the carbon finish failing makes me not interested. -Maybe- would go for carbon revolution but they only have one design at this point I believe.
has anybody seen or have pics of either of these fitted to a car? http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/image-wheels-355.jpg http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/image-wheels-bps-15.jpg
The 355s are pretty cool looking. I couldn't find whether or not you could have them made/delivered in different colors: blk, gold, chrome etc. Not a bad price either.
Very few wheel companies offer the sizes needed for the 348/355. I'd be genuinely surprised if that one does.
Disappointed Wheels came in the mail on May 2nd, and all 4 were damaged due to shipment from FedEx being a nightmare. Speedline is going to be correcting the issue either with a partial return of my money or by rush ordering a new set and I will be returning these. So upset Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's definitely black, but its matte black. I like the matte better because it wont show brake dust as easily or scratches or anything.
Being aluminum and can be safely powdercoated, maybe have them refinished locally at their expense? At least you wouldn't have to worry about getting another damaged set.
Is this type of damage common? I've had wheels and other delicate items shipped to me and also I've shipped overseas, from middle east, mother Russia and much more in Europe. Never experienced such a thing. Would you say the issue was with the packaging?
Yes, i've already been contacting local powder coating companies in regards to getting these repaired. I don't mind doing it, but I'm upset that these weren't just ready to go since I paid to have new wheels, not a used set.... I requested a partial refund, or a replacement set.
I've had several wheel sets shipped to me, all cost significantly than these, and all were packaged a LOT better. These had a box, thin foam sheet, and plastic sheet wrap (single layer). So being shipped from Great Britain, they got messed up. There was no padding at all in the box. Holes in the box from FedEx, and bent box corners. Which is why i'm afraid for them to just send me a replacement set, just in case those get damaged too.... I would rather just repaint/ repair these. Especially since it would likely be several weeks to replace these.
Update: I spoke with Chris Jordan (the rep I was working with at Speedline, who by the way has been more than courteous this entire process). I suggested $2000 USD (1541 British Pound) returned to me to repaint the wheels, and repair the aluminum with a local company here in St. Louis, MO. Or a rushed new set, and I would return these. In conclusion Chris was able to offer 800 British Pound ($1035 USD), or just return the wheel set. He could not promise a timely replacement set. So ultimately I'll be spending money out of my pocket to keep the wheels and repair them properly, even with the money being returned. Or return these, and start at square one and get my money back. I sent an email back to see if he would meet me in the middle and send back 1000 British Pound ($1297 USD). Although this was not Chris's fault, I feel as though these wheels should have been insured with FedEx. I'm not sure whether they were insured or not. FedEx would not allow me to file a claim as the "Shipper" has to initiate the claim, not the "Receiver". But I simply am not getting the deal I originally wanted. Brand new wheels, hassle free, no "used wheels" issues or having to repaint to the color I wanted (Black). But ultimately, even ordering brand new wheels through Speedline, I'm running into the same issues of just buying off of an individual.
No fun to have to go through all this but 1k is about double what it would cost to powdercoat a set of wheels. (by me anyway).
My local powered coater is great, if you schedule he can have them done in 2 days and its 50 bux a wheel including stripping to bare metal. extra 10 for a clearcoat. I will buy them from you for $2500
Ya I agree with the guys... Id say you're easily 500$ up here...But it's also a pain in the butt to deal with.
Yeah I agree, but I've got to find someone with a truck or SUV. Time to drop them off, worry about possible issues at a powder coating company etc. I may be "up" in money, but money was never the issue. It's the time and effort I've had to just getting these the way they should be. I've got a local powder coating company that is going to do it for a reasonable cost, but I still shouldn't have to go through with it. Especially since I paid the $400 to ship them here, and the shipping is what damaged the wheels.... I wont be selling these, they will be repaired. I'm just irked that I have to spend the effort to get it done.
For sure its the packaging. If packed properly, they cannot be marked. I would get my money back a start looking for "real" challenge wheels but thats just me. I hate fake things on my car.
I agree with Guido. Get your money back and wait until a set of real speedline Challenge wheels come up for sale. Be patient. There's no rush. Your current wheels are pretty nice. You've had a rough start with Ferrari ownership which is now in the past. You don't deserve another round of this.
Sorry for your troubles. I feel your pain. Had a set of HREs get torn up bad in shipping once. Ended up getting refunded but like you said, it wasn't about the money...more about the pain in the ass. Personally I would return them pending the promise of properly packaged new wheels. Sounds like your two potential courses of action will result in an acceptable outcome.
I agree with brian0473 & Robb-- return the wheels and get another set, hopefully packed better. There are plently of potential problems in having this set repaired locally and once you start down that path there's no going back. As it is, all you'll be out is some time and you'll eventually have the set of wheels you want in *new* condition. If these were race wheels and you needed them in a hurry I'd say fix 'em but if your intention is to make your car as nice as possible then take the easy path and just get them replaced. Put the time and energy you'd spend on getting these fixed into doing something else on the car.
