I recently purchased my first Ferrari (87 328) this winter and I am really enjoying driving it this Spring. My question to fellow Ferrari owners is this....when do I get the next service done? I know this is a loaded question, I am looking for advice and direction.

    - the car as 13500 miles
    - the last Major service was done about 10 months ago (at 13000 miles) at Ferrari in Central New Jersey
-I have no intentions of driving the car more than 1500-2000 miles in a year
    - if I go by the recommended service guide (in the owners manual) the next service would be a 20K miles, that would be years down the road, and I yes I know this is 30 years old Ferrari, so that gets me to the meat of my question....how often do other owners recommend having their cars serviced if the car has limited use but I want to keep it the best possible driving shape? Is it once a year? Is it every 3-4k miles? Is it once every 2 years?

Thanks for the input in advance.

I've had my car almost four years. It had undergone a major service, by a reputable independent, shortly before I bought it. I have had the oil and filter changed every six months. All fluids changed at two years. Major service with belts, valve adjustment, et al at four years - just completed in April. I have the car inspected at each service for preventative measures.

Lots of information and opinions on F-Chat, using "search."

    Welcome to 328 ownership!

Replace all rubber fuel lines. Coolant lines would be a good idea. SRI Products has good "kits" for both of these.

It would no be uncommon for a low mileage car like yours to not have had these replaced before. Fuel leaks are very bad in a high pressure FI system. And coolant lines bursting leave you stranded and probably damage the engine by overheating. These cars have a lot of hoses near exhaust and engine heat, and I am surprised they generally last as long as they do. And eg. there are two short coolant hoses under the plenum which no one ever changes as the plenum needs to be removed, they cook on top of the engine.

Make sure you have fresh tires, no older than 7 years even if the tread looks good.

My main theme is deal with safety/stranding issues.

I get LSD grabbing noises coming out of a T junction when the trans fluid gets old.

The long heater hose is no doubt due, but when I did mine they were in surprisingly good shape, pretty much like new, no scale inside and not hardened at all. Don't know what they made them of back in the day that lasts like that. I think SR has a kit that includes only the end that is exposed to the engine heat which splices in a small new section, which makes some sense.

I've been following this service protocol since 1993 on my '88 328 and never had any problems.
