Yes please, a close season with proper devopment battle.
Isn't RBR supposed to pitch their B-car in Spain, too? Barcelona might be one of their better shots at a good finish, I suppose.

Formula 1 2017 title battle set for total reset at Spanish GP - F1 - Autosport

The 2017 Formula 1 world championship battle faces a total reset from this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, says Mercedes' Niki Lauda.

F1's three leading teams Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull are all bringing big upgrades for the first European race of the season at Barcelona.

So far this year Ferrari and Mercedes have been closely matched at the front, with Red Bull slightly behind.

Ferrari and Red Bull's developments are thought to focus mostly on aerodynamics, while it is understood Mercedes is working on reducing its car's weight.

The champion team believes the W08's excess weight has contributed to its early-season balance problems.

Mercedes' non-executive chairman Lauda thinks the size of the Barcelona upgrades and how close the battle at the top has been all season means the competitive picture could change entirely this weekend.

"The season will start new," said Lauda.

"Who has the better upgrades, we don't know yet.

"But we will see in Barcelona."

Haas set to stick with Brembo brakes for Spanish Grand Prix

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner says the team is planning to race with Brembo brakes at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.

The American outfit evaluated a change to Carbon Industrie brakes at the in-season Bahrain test and Russian Grand Prix last month, having struggled with a number of braking issues since the team made its Formula One debut at the start of 2016. The switch to

Carbon Industrie proved problematic, however, and Haas ultimately opted to revert back to Brembo following Friday practice in Sochi.

"We started off with CI [Carbon Industrie] brakes in Sochi," Steiner explained. "We weren't getting enough cooling for them, and if you don't cool them enough, you overheat the brake itself and the pedal gets long.

According to Italian division of http://motorsport.com Ferrari had a filming day last Friday on Mugello circuit.
Both racing drivers where there and they focused mainly on starting procedures.

    and

According to @SportmphMark Mercedes will bring to Spain new, lighter gearbox and modified suspension (front and rear)They should have and extra weight to use as a ballast and balance the car a little bit better. There is also a word about an engine upgrade in the near future.

Wonder how Ferrari will do here as they ran very well on the mediums all the time in testing.

    Ferrari 1-2? Lets hope so.

Red Bull's upgraded car will apparently be called RB14, and in the simulator was 1.3-1.5 seconds quicker. Suspension, nose, rake changes (so basically an entire new car)

that would be the biggest upgrade ever pitched after four races, I guess. Epic, if they succeed.

I think they've been hit quite hard with the suspension thing pre-season. They've known about it for a while that the fancy suspension ban could come, so I'm sure they've been working on it more than just a few races.

Fingers crossed, I want them to battle with Mercedes and Ferrari.

So no real reasons why LH has problems in Russia - Does not sound good for Spain unless the new updates assist. Car seems to have such a narrow window of operations

No magic bullets for Hamilton issues - Toto Wolff - BBC Sport - There are no "magic bullets to understanding" Lewis Hamilton's car issues, says Mercedes boss Toto Wolff.

+1 staggering improvement, it will be interesting to see how much of that translates to on track performance.

To be honest I can't quite get my head round that figure...I'd love it to be true, but that amount of time gain without the Renault upgrade?

Aero has limits. That PU is not changing the world in anyone's chassis at the moment. I could see .5 -.8 but 1 or more...hmmmmmmm

Their aero has remained pretty basic, perhaps they worked so much on a complete package in time for Spain they didn't bother making small upgrades in the flyaways, knowing it would buy them only marginal time, not enough to challenge either Ferrari or Mercedes and they where comfortably ahead of the rest.

    Who knows...it's a theory. ;)

spectacular. Talking about race? This could all be ****s and giggles and he is going to some sort of historic race.

    Current teams:

Ferrari: two good drivers, have Giovinazzi
FI: two good drivers, have Celis
McLaren: two good grumpy drivers, 182 test drivers
Mercedes: two good drivers, have Russell
RBR: two good drivers, 2 reserve + STR
Renault: one excellent driver, have Sirotkin
STR: two good drivers, have tons of reserves
    Williams: meh. won't change.

Sauber: 1 good driver, have Giovinazzi
Haas: 1.5 good drivers, no reserve?

To me, it doesn't make sense. An aged retiree that doesn't have the track record to pull sponsors seems to be strange.
I initially thought perhaps Honda bringing him in at Sauber but for what? They would do themselves a bigger favor with some Japanese chap.
And Haas has a relatively experienced driver in Lettuce and wouldn't need to counter that with a banker driver (as Massa at Williams).

Maybe he'd be happy to race for little cash at a backbencher such as Sauber??

It doesn't make sense to me. I think this is generating media attention around some fun event.
