3765 LM was built with a standard Series I GTO triple scoop nose. During 1962 Le Mans 24 Hours, Mike Parkes put her in the sand (I think Graham Hill in a DB4GT cut him off, but, whatever). This was early in the race- maybe the 3rd hour. Because of sand ingestion, so the story goes, cooling problems ensued.
As an attempt to keep racing, SF pit mechanics hacked a large opening in the nose where the 3 scoops had been. Some time after the race, a repair was made to clean up the sheet metal and this was when the slot came into being.
When the car was restored in the late 1980s, the decision was made to adhere to the specification of the start of the '62 Le Mans. It was then that the slot was replaced by the original configuration of the 3 scoops.

    Here's why.
Tire scratching on bodywork of 0646 until the tire exploded.
Police photo taken from the wreck (fender).

    Bonjour

I'm searching for the real diameter for the rear lights of GTO 64, 330 LMB, 250 LM, P4 and 275 GTB. Have they all the same rear lights ?

    Thanks

I don't have much to contribute to this thread, but I'd thought I'd throw this out there. I'll dig up some kind of door prize for anybody who can recognize the driver and name the car.

Wow! You are really good. To be frank, I had forgotten the name of the car, like a lot of things...

I have a Ferrari table flag from the 2005 Montreal GP I was going to throw away. It's yours!

I had to cheat and do a little hunting for the specifics, but this is a pic I remembered. Thanks for posting. Gerald made a tremendous contribution to what I've learned, as he did for so many.

That's very kind. Thank you! DM sent.

    Many Tanks Marcel.
Apparently, this is just one of the several images taken: it seems to place the scratching on the inside body skirt rather than under the top of left mudguard, as it should likely be. Scratching looks scarce and can not figure the function of rubber-metal buffer neither. Your opinions please.

One of a series of pics taken outside Chinetti Motors. The whole series has been posted here I believe...

Found this photo on a Cold War Aircraft group. Is it 2845GT at Sebring '62? The plane in the background is a Lockheed R-6V Constitution.
