White faced gauges look out of place for 1987 as well.

 

I don't think they are original, nor is the 25th Anniversario-style steering wheel, the dashboard-top black leather coverage, the interior stitching, and, all the gold trim IMHO (happy to be proven wrong on the latter).

The exterior features some departures from what would be standard specification, if a Tipo Euro/ROW specification is being carried out.

The engine bay looks to my eye to be clean, but not restored.

Was this car actually done by Polo Storico, or by affiliates in the region?

 

I really liked that car. Seemed to be very original and unmolested. If I was in the market I would have been all over it,,worth 300k IMHO.

HLA121120 also spotted in Tokyo, Japan on January the 14th 2013, featuring 1978-79 LP400S wing without end plates, 1988 side-skirts, satin black vents and NACA ducts painted white, and gold exhaust tips.

The front bumper seems off to my eye, could be the angle.

The vent grates are poorly mounted within the bumper (DS one is protruding) and painted white, and it is not snugged-up with the bodywork.

I have been meaning to bring this up for some years now - in recent years, many Countach are being refurbished and emerging with what I can only accurately describe as a jacked-up rear end.

This is caused by the installation of replacement rear springs which are too tall.

Perhaps I'm fussy or have a critical eye, but, as with the offensive side-markers, small differences make a huge visual or aesthetic impact, and not in a positive way! The car looks off-balance and too tall.

More importantly, if you are actually going to push your Countach at some speed, having a 'floating' rear end is worse than having old tires IMHO! As Valentino tells it to me, this is a very dangerous situation in high speed cornering or under braking from speed.

I've also seen the opposite where refurbished cars have lowered springs.

 

Ive seen that also, either way, ride height and suspension geometry setup seems to be an issue with many Countachs.

This is true of other classic Lamborghinis as well.

Couple cars posted on eBay. The 89 seems like a value assuming it's a good car.

I recall the SV being at an auction, am I correct. If so when where and what did it hammer for.

The NEW owner of the Lamborghini Bellevue Dealer must have bought it for his store. I did not see it on display there yet, so not sure whats going on. The pics on E Bay appear to be the same ones that the Auction house had up??

Yes, it was at RM Auctions. Did not sell on the block. I was told the car recently sold for $2 million. They were asking $2,250,000.

From my understanding, not a full restoration, described as a "cosmetic" restoration, of a repaint and interior re-trim.
