Ferrari have a points system for all owners your points total has two components, current value and future value. Current value is based on the cars you currently own and all your official interactions with Ferrari. Your points for a new car start depreciating after 2 years. Super cars like La Ferrari don't suffer points depreciation. If you have older Ferraris that you haven't registered with Ferrari, get your dealer to enter them in MODIS - no register - no points.

Future value is how they see you buying cars going forward. The older you are the lower your points would be as your future buying capacity would be shorter!!!

Your points total I would guess comes into play if there is a sell out like with the 812 and definitely is key for limited edition cars.

    Fascinating
Certainly makes sense, like an opaque variant of frequent flier miles
I wonder if purchasing second-hand from a dealer or participating in events like corsa piloti/clients contributes to your points. Do they have regional modifiers to influence global distribution patterns?
    Thanks for sharing this

Good analysis. The only time the factory asked to see proof of ownership was when they were informed I had purchased my F50. It was as if had inadvertently walked through a hidden door.

I went to a Ferrari presentation on this - very straightforward. The issue came to the fore with limited edition cars and the big uplift on them in terms of profit and the huge demand. The focus seems to be on people being members of the Ferrari family and the participation with Ferrari. Obviously the key is cars you own and it seems that there are over 1,000 owners with significant numbers of cars. Interactions with Ferrari also count so it's doing things like atelier and tailor made, going to previews, Ferrari launch events, dinners, challenge series, etc. Formula 1 would also count if you do that via the Ferrari packages. Clearly owning their super cars or limited edition cars is also a factor. If you're someone that buys a Ferrari and then sells it before buying a new one, you will always be low on the list as you'll be competing with a significant number of people that own multiple Ferraris.

Seems as fair a way as any. I guess it will also come into play for new cars like the 812 where I was told 5 years production has already been sold out. I'm sure that certain people will drop out due to circumstances or not wanting to wait etc.

All those contribute. In fact you don't have to buy 2nd hand from a dealer - just take the car into Ferrari for a service and have them enter it into MODIS.

I won't hear a bad word about the 812 (nor any other model in the current Ferrari range). Not even Smokey and the Bandit can ruin the 812.

I was trying to help the first time buyer above get an allocation for say 2020, my dealer who is very straight and accommodating said "you never know how things will play out but we are working on the assumption that the whole UK 812 production run is sold out".

    That is their deposit position.

I love the 812, I know some don't seem to like it, but for me it is just perfect. Cannot wait to get my hands on it.
