Saturday - A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. East wind around 7 mph becoming south southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Since the IRL took over Indy and it has become a one make series, the race itself doesn't hold the excitement it did prior. I still watch, absolutely, but I'm more interested in seeing what the individuals do for those four laps than the race itself.
Indycar is the penultimate BoP racing (only possibly superceded by a one engine/one chassis format...) and you know what I think about it... ::ppuke: :)

Nothing active Jack, it looks like they are trying to dry the track and have announced that qualifying will be extended beyond 6PM. It is scheduled to be broadcast on ABC at 4PM.

I'm enjoying the qualifying. Like the cars or not, 230MPH takes some nuts.

The best part is, nothing related to politics...

I hate the IRL, and I'm no fan of the Hulman-George clan, but when you are at Indy it's a different ball game.

I was there recently, and it was amazing. The history alone was moving...that there were cars on track while I was there was awesome. My visit to the track was enough to rekindle some interest that was lost in days since the split.

Alonso's entry has also kicked up my interest. I loved how drivers from other disciplines / series competed at Indy. If I were Tony George, that would be a big part of my strategy - invite the champions from other series to qualify (help fund, match them with teams, etc).

I loathe Tony George as the creation of the IRL was among the most destructive actions in the history of mankind. However, bringing the F1 race was a step in the right direction.

Yes, the track itself, regardless of who owns it, is AWESOME!

Wasn't Tony George sacked as chairman of the board of the Hulman Group? I think that he is just a board member now. He is a punk nonetheless, he single-handedly destroyed open wheel racing in the USA.
