Prices are definitely down. This low miles carbed GTS is $55k buy it now. If miles are genuine and it has a good service record it seems very low:

A quick googling of the VIN indicates that the car has been for sale for about a month now. One cached link shows an asking of $85K while another shows a "bid" of $45K. Unfortunately, the seller is not doing himself any good using crappy photos and the exact same wording in every place he has tried to sell it. There is probably a story attached to the car as the seller is not offering a CarFax or AutoCheck background report in the eBay ad.

CARFAX on a 1979????? It doesn't exist, CARFAX only is 1980 and up when all manufacturers went to a 17 digit VIN

You're right. Didn't notice that VIN was 6 digits short. Guess if the car was ever in a wreck, etc. there is no record.

Hi, I'm new to Ferrarichat. Just picked up a 1976 Euro 308 GTB Vetroresina Dry Sump from Spain in Blue Sera over tan (first one imported to Spain; VIN #F106AB19121)--original colors and numbers matching. Car was always in Barcelona and had 3 owners prior to my purchase. Getting sorted mechanically at the moment, but it is very original with all books, tools, and pouch--even has the original plug-in, Ferrari map reading light!

    Two questions for the Community:

    1. How many fiberglass, dry sump blue sera cars were made? For the life of me, can't figure this out.

    2. What radio would have been installed in-period? Car doesn't have a radio at this time.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

That is a no stories car that had incredible paperwork, including the window sticker and original Chinetti bill of sale, that I bought in 2003 and sold to the current owner in 2009. The current owner is doing himself and the car a disservice by listing it in this fashion. Anybody on this board interested in purchasing it, PM me, I would be glad to help with your due diligence.

After reading Senna's comment, and looking at the listing, I thought "this seems to be a very nice 308 that is being undersold and underpriced and will sell immediately." And it did. Will be interesting to see if a collector got his dream car at a bargain price or a dealer snapped it up to turn for a quick profit.

Wasn't the car from Fchatter Mark (I believe) sold for USD 300+ ?

Anyway, if it sells then the eur. 300K barrier for euro dry sump cars in similar condition could/should be broken. Will make me question again what exactly I want to do with my car...

I hope the car sold to an appreciating new private owner. Original paint, original wheels with the factory XWX still mounted, no rain clean undercarriage, genuine mileage etc. etc.. I don't think the seller to whom I sold the car to, ever really appreciated what he had. At that price I was going to make an offer to buy it back, but didn't act quickly enough. Even if it needed a full 30K service, that was a fire sale price for no good reason, not a true market indicator.

Ferrari dealer Eberlein in Germany (has a lot of older models) got in a bunch if 308s and 328s about 2 months ago. Two 308 GTB QVs are now gone, with asking prices €125k and €135k, both average mileage. No clue about actual selling price.

A very clean and original '79 sold for $55k (a few posts back) and a decent '82 on BaT for $50k... I'm going to go out on a limb here (perhaps a short one) and suggest that once we move into the next upward swing in the 3x8 value wave that finding a nice, unmolested, properly-serviced, moderate-mileage 3x8 of any year for around $50k will be a thing of the past. Very happy I got mine within the past year.

Yes, $50K is likely a new baseline like $30K once was. People will probably be wishing that they could go back in a time machine to 2017 again.
